Bowels after sigmoid: This would not be unusual - the 11 stools represent your system being plugged up from the volvulus. And since that time - you are getting only liquid - it takes the bowels at least several days to move things along. I would anticipate resumption of "normal" bowels within the next day or so. ...Read more

Not likely: A volvulus occurs because of redundancy (extra length) of colon. The fact that this excess was excised will likely prevent occurrence. However, you could be having symptoms from adhesions (scar tissue) that can accompany open surgery. Check with your surgeon. ...Read more

It is not acceptable to leave a volvulus untreated. The basis for it is a condition called malrotation.
