If you work in àn office that is loaded with black mold could it make you sick? What symptoms? Would it be throat chest irritation, flushing reaction?

Yes: In my experience, most people will be affected by the odor and some may have mucous membrane irritation (throat, chest, eye) from the volatile organic compounds. Up to 1/2 of the people exposed may develop allergic disorders such as asthma ,hay fever, or eye allergy. A few many develop pneumonia-like pictures and even permanent lung damage. In other words, mold is a really bad dude. ...Read more

I have had a cough and my lungs hurt! i was staying in a friends apartment that had black mold all over. Day/night quill is not helping wht to do?

Dayquil/Nyquil R not: For allergies. U apparently r allergic to mold & smoking makes u more susceptible to lung irritation by mold. (smoking inhibits lung's ability to flush mold or other foreign material from body). Antihistamines (zyrtec/claritin/ benadryl) may help. If problem worsens, see doc. Mold spores may have entered lungs & taken up residence. ...Read more

In my shower, under the soap holder, found lots of black stuff. kinda white and little fuzzy. is it black mold or soap scum. will poison my lungs

Just scrub it down: No worries. If a person uses a shower, and sees mold or mildew, he should get some cleaning solution (made with a bit of bleach and water, or bought from the store already made) and scrub the shower stall down once a week. If for some reason the person is physically unable to scrub a shower, he can use a milder solution (also sold in stores) and just spray the mold or mildew areas twice a weekly. ...Read more

Do you have lung doc: I would see your primary physician, who may refer you to a pulmonologist (lung doctor), allergist/immunologist (allergy doctor), and or an infectious disease specialist.
You can consider purchasing a test kit to identify the type of mold, they're usually about $20 at most hardware stores. Once the results return, they should follow-up to send a mold specialist for further evaluation. ...Read more

Potentially: If you are allergic to molds, you can get respiratory symptoms including asthma. The most helpful step is reduction in humidity and removal of all damaged material. Be sure that the shower area is well ventilated and that there is no water leak inside the wall ...Read more

I have been subjected to toxic mold. I have COPD that was exasperated by it was in hospital for 8days but my lungs aren't any better. They are gettin?

Things do get worse: Every time you experience an exacerbation, regardless of the cause, your lungs experience a reduction of functions, even after treated. Unfortunately age/time is also unstoppable and all of us deteriorate with time, some faster than other. Make sure you don't have further exposure to such mold. Consult doc/pulmonologist for further evaluation/treatment--there're new treatments available. Good luck. ...Read more
