Depends: If they removed your ovaries or not, i assume they did. But a total abdominal hysterectomy means removal of the uterus and cervix. If they also remove your ovaries that is called total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo- oophorectomy. If both ovaries were removed most patients usually get hot flashes within a few days but could possible be longer and the severity can vary per person. ...Read more
