When creatinine serum blood level is low 0.6, does this mean kidney is filtering good. What are muscle wasting symptoms & causes.?

See below: You are right about creatinine level. Muscle wasting as the name implies is atrophy of muscles. Lack of activity, some problems of neuro muscular system can do that. ...Read more

I m 45 yrs old my creatinine level is low in 40s what should I do is it dangerous?

High: Are you sure that your serum creatinine is 40? Levels over 10 are considered very indicative of advanced kidney disease requiring dialysis. Unless you're under treatment for chronic kidney disease, have the lab check your serum creatinine again and discuss this with your physician. ...Read more

I have a high bun/ creatinine level (28) and a low creatinine level (0.5). Should I be concerned or do something?

BUN/Creat Ratio: I personally would not worry about it since the high ratio is due to a slightly elevated BUN. This might be due to a diet high in non-essential amino acids (nothing to truly be concerned about) or a mild lack of water intake. If you are still concerned, please see your primary doctor and go over all of that with her/him. ...Read more

What does it mean low creatinine levels and high bun creatinine ratio?

Muscle mass: Serum levels of creatinine depend on renal function, muscle mass and intake of muscles foods. A low creatinine level is of no consequence as long as you are not emaciated. Paralyzed, or have extensive amputations. High ratio just reflects low creatinine. ...Read more

My albumin/creatinine level is low 3.5 what I wanted to do to increase the level?

Dr. Tony Ho Dr. Ho
1 doctor agreed:

You don't!: A low albumin/creatinine ratio is a good thing! As the level rises, that means the amount of Albumin you are spilling into your urine is abnormal, and could need treatment. This is called "microalbuminuria". ...Read more

What does it mean if your creatinine level is too high 1.16 and your bun/creatinine ratio is very low at a 5?

Why do you ask?: Labs mean nothing in the absence of a clinical history. You might be a vegan bodybuilder. When I was lifting weights every day, my creatinine ran 1.6-1.8. The fellow-pathologists with whom I've discussed it think that reports generated by labs are causing overdiagnosis of renal disease (it's subscience -- "there's an adjustment for race because black people are more muscular.") ...Read more

My blood work all came back normal with the exception of my creatinine level, which was 20.0. What does this suggest and why do I not have symptoms?

Labs φ disease: Just because laboratory results are elevated or out of range, does not mean you have disease. Creatinine is a measure kidney function, but there are many things (like hydration, medications, exercise) that can alter the creatinine levels. Having multiple elevations is more significant. ...Read more

My blood test report showed egfr as 72ml and creatinine level as 1.38mg. Worried that my egfr is low for my age. How to increase egfr or is it normal?

Kidney insufficiency: On the surface, these blood test results suggest a significant degree of impairment of the function of your kidneys. This needs to be our first presumption, unfortunately. You need to follow up with your doctor for blood testing, urine testing and ultrasound to start. ...Read more

Low bun/creatinine 5:1 and UTI symptoms. With out Uti. Could this be of concern?

It depends,,,: It depends on the actual levels of BUN and Cr reported along with other lab values. If the Cr (Creatinine) is over 1.5 there might be cause for concern as it would point toward renal impairment, and there'd be other findings. Your other symptoms mentioned, flank pain, blood in urine, and proteinuria also point to a renal issue so see your doctor soon for more tests and treatment of the cause. ...Read more

I have a high blood Bun level of 23 w/range 10-20 and a low blood Creatinine level of 0.65 w/range of 0.70-1.20. I'm a little confused as to meaning?

Dehydration: Were you dehydrated when the blood was drawn. If you were asked to come fasting, you may not have taken enough water. Dehydration affects BUN more than it affects creatinine. Since creatinine is normal, I would not worry about BUN.
At your next test, make sure you drink water in the morning before the blood is drawn. ...Read more

I took a drug screen and it came back diluted. I did not tamper with the test by drinking a lot of water and wondered if my creatinine levels are low and if so what can I do to increase the levels in my urine.?

See your pcp: Verifying that a urine sample is "human urine" includes checking the temperature, ph, specific gravity and concentration of creatinine. Disease states can cause an exceptionally low creatinine level so having your pcp do further tests is of value. The creatinine concentration tested for is rather wide and permits a quite low level as normal. So if you are lower it is worth looking into. ...Read more

Is there no cure to low ionized calcium and high intact pth? My creatinine level is within the normal level. What's the cure to this?

Things to check: Hi. I would recommend checking 25-hydroxyvitamin D, 1, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D, and 24-hour urine for calcium and creatinine. If indicated, get worked up for intestinal malabsorption. Your secondary hyperparathyroidism is a physiologic response of the parathyroids to a threat of low blood calcium. ...Read more

Creatinine Clearance (Est) L 73.3600 mL/min 75.0 - 115.0: Why is my level low? Is it because I'm a small 64/ female and eat no red meat?

Realize: As we get older out kidney function does slowly decline. Think of the kidney as being made up of a million Brita filters. As we age, some of those filter stop working. If you have blood pressure, cholesterol, and/or other vascular issues even more of these filters can stop working. Be aware even your diet (as you mention) and/or muscle mass can affect this value with suggestion of a problem. ...Read more

My mother has high creatinine level....its 3.64 n low hb lvl dats 6 only..... If we donate blood to her....will it help in lowering creatinine lvl?

My calcium levels are a little high, vit. D is very low, creatinine is 1.22 and egfr is 59. Possible hyperparathyroid? What should my gp check next?

Parathyroid hormone,: Level to be checked first with phosphorus level. Your parathyroid needs to be low in the context of high calcium. If high or even normal, and not low, would check parathyroid nuclear scan. If an adenoma (benign tumor) is found, it will need to be removed or you will need to see endocrinologist or nephrologist for further management. ...Read more

What would cause low Creatinine and Lipase levels in my son's bloodwork? He is 9 and has chronic abdominal pains for over a year.

Low creatinine: Can come from a lack or low levels of muscle mass. Most young children can have this phenomenon without real disease. Low lipase levels are usually more complicated as it depends on the condition in which blood was taken. Lipase is a digestive enzyme produced by the pancreas. Low levels of lipase can indicate cystic fibrosis, where the pancreas is permanently damaged, or chronic pancreatitis. ...Read more

My blood work shows creatinine level quite low-.39. Since Sept, extremely weak in my muscles/fatigue easily/must rest often. What would cause this?

Many things: The low creatinine suggests that you have low muscle mass. It isn't clear if this is based on your being small or due to a concerning problem. Many things can cause this like a primary muscle problem, metabolic issues, hormonal issues, nutritional deficiency and low grade infections. You will be best served by reviewing your issues with a physician to better create a course of action. ...Read more
