Symptoms Of Epstein Barr Virus In Adults
Why would my epstein barr virus continue to be high. Don't test positive for mono, it has been pn high side for over a year? Is this worrisome
EBV: If you mean your antibody titers are high this is not uncommon and may stay that way for lifetime. It also depends upon which component of the EBV the antibodies are forming to, and also whether these are IgG or IgM antibodies. These tests are not easy to interpret and in the absent of symptoms would not worry about them.
The epstein–barr virus (ebv) is a virus in the herpesvirus family and is one of the most common viruses in humans. Ebv is best known as the cause of infectious mononucleosis, and infection with ebv occurs by the oral transfer of saliva and/or genital secretions, hence the moniker "the kissing disease". In the us, about 90 to 95 percent of all adults have ...Read more
Can epstein-barr virus (ebv) turn into a deadly disease, and what are the symptoms, treatments, and causes?
It can rarely.: Almost everyone gets infected with ebv and almost everyone recovers. During acute infection, complications include low platelets, potential airway obstruction and spontaneous or trauma-related ruptured spleen. The virus stays dormant after one recovers and can be associated with lymphomas in very immunosuppressed hosts.
Do you think a body is able to do any nightly repair with only 4-5 hours of sleep? Read that Epstein Barr virus can induce cancer. Would a person have to show symptoms of E. Barr or could it be silent and immune system not catch it /still do harm?
Stop worrying: I will leave the question about sleep to others or your own observations. Most people have met Epsrein-Barr and do not have symptoms. It produces a few very rare cancers in healthy folks and some of the distinct quasi-cancers in the immuncompromised. There is a huge amount of scare / rubbish stuff about it online. There is nothing you can do about it, so get on with your life and try to be happy.See 1 more doctor answer
Cause of mono: Ebv is one of 8 human herpes viruses and is the classical cause of infectious mononucleosis (glandular fever). Once infected, an individual will asymptomatically have the virus in saliva intermittently and can transmit it to others not yet infected. Not everyone who get infected have symptoms.
Epstein barr virus: If you have symptoms of an active infection, do not share your eating utensils, drinks and drinking glasses or cups. Be sure to wash utensils and glasses thoroughly. Kissing can spread eb virus, since the virus can be spread in saliva. If your doctor tells you your spleen is enlarged due to the infection, avoid contact sports or activities where an abdominal injury my occur.
TREATMENT OR EB VIRU: The disease is self limiting and notreatment is neccesary, except bed rest in acute infections and oral fluids. If there is a co existing infection than treat with appropriate antibiotics. In severe cases some times we use oral corticosteroids, which reduce some symptoms and swelling precutions for few months to avoid contact sport and activities to prevent rupture of spleen.
A human virus.: The epstein–barr virus (ebv) is a virus in the herpesvirus family and is one of the most common viruses in humans. Ebv is best known as the cause of infectious mononucleosis, and infection with ebv occurs by the oral transfer of saliva and/or genital secretions, hence the moniker "the kissing disease". In the us, about 90 to 95 percent of all adults have evidence of previous infection.See 1 more doctor answer
Yes: Although we are not absolutely certain of all the routes of transmission, ebv is a herpes virus, and as such, once you have it, it is with you for life. Some people shed the virus in respiratory secretions and other body fluids and can transmit it through intimate contact. Infectious mononucleosis has been called "the kissing disease".
They are not related: There is no evidence that epstein-barr virus (ebv) causes fibromyalgia (fms). Yet, many "experts" claim to find a connection. As fms is a painful condition that truly affects people's lives, others try to exploit fms patients and sell them bogus treatments and unecessary tests (eg., ebv testing). For fms, exercise helps. Weight loss (if overweight) helps. Dietary changes and medications can help.See 1 more doctor answer
