Congestion can place pressure against the eustacian tubes, so that they are not draining the ears of fluid and pressure with resultant pain and ear ringing (tinnitus). The congestion can also cause a headache. The mucus could be coming from a variety of places including your nose or a sinus. Recommend that you see an ear/ nose/throat specialist.
