Horrible sharp pain in leg. Inside of right leg. Comes and goes. Only lasts a few seconds. No other symptoms. Not swollen, not warm. Could it be dvt?

Leg pain: The pain you describe is not typical for dvt, it sounds more like a musculoskeletal symptom. Having said that, one can't be sure what's going on from out here and it would be a safer course to see your dr. And get checked. ...Read more

I am concerned about a DVT in the groin. I am having significant pain on the inner groin on one side (no matter what I am doing). No injury.?

Unlikely : This does not sound like a DVT at all. Most symptomatic dvt's present with leg swelling on one side. Many patients have pain or other symptoms but constant pain in the groin is much more likely to be musculoskeletal. If this persists and you are concerned, please see the doctor. ...Read more

Dvt pain on my calf has gone does that mean the clot has disolved..have pain in my groin area though?

Dvt pain on my calf has gone does that mean the clot has disolved..have pain in my groin area though?

Why are you waiting.: Just because your calf pain has gone down does not necessarily mean that the clot has dissolved, at least totally. Without knowing the specifics of your clot, how it was treated and the time frame makes commenting purely hypothetical. What isn't hypothetical is that clots can form in the groin and it would be wise for you to have your groin evaluated soon. ...Read more

What are possible causes for transient sharp stabbing groin pain in a female with no history of DVT or this type of pain.?

What are possible causes for transient sharp stabbing groin pain in a female with no history of DVT or this type of pain.?

Pulled Muscle: I agree with dr. Wolf's comprehensive list of possible causes of groin pain. Although less likely, i would also include a pulled groin muscle as a possibility. These tend to occur following rigorous exercise +/- lifting and respond well to rest, ice, and anti-inflammatories. ...Read more

Got ultrasound on leg-groin for leg pain suspecting dvt found nothing but would like second ultrasound for assurance how do I get second without refer?

You will need a: physician's order to obtain a repeat and if you are insured it is unlikely that the second one will be paid for. In other words you will have a big bill to pay. It is not reasonable to obtain a second study as the likelihood of it being any different is extremely small. Talk to your health care provider about your concerns. ...Read more

Groin pain: It is important to get a Duplex vein scan but this rarely shows anything above the groin. In thin patients, the iliac veins may be visualized. Duplex waveform analysis of the common femoral veins may suggest if there is iliac vein obstruction.

b mode component of ultrasound will also show if there are lymph nodes in the groin.

An in person exam will determine if there are hernias in the groin. ...Read more

DVT: By this time your clot should be gone. If you are still on blood thinners a flight should not be a problem. Sometimes after one has a blood clot the veins become chronically dilated losing some of their recoil (elasticity) and therefore blood return is decreased causing swelling. It doesn't mean there is a clot. However, you should get clearance from your doctor and guidance what to take prior. ...Read more

Circulation issue: in DVT. If there is a clot on one side blocking all the veins coming back from all the leg, then all the circulation out from there would be blocked. There would be huge swelling. The test (doppler) is simple, not very expensive, nonpainful and non risky.
cannot say in your particular case, but generally, it wouldnt likely be done. ...Read more

My wife had an evlt procedure on her leg, 1.5week ago, she now have a lump inner thigh, close to groin, not tender. Is this normal? Or could be dvt?

Perhaps: It is not uncommon to feel the treated vein as a "lump". It could be a reactive lymph node as well or a superficial thrombosed vein. It would be something to discuss with your treating physician to determine if an ultrasound would be indicated. The incidence of DVT after evlt is quite low, but you should discuss it with the treating physician. ...Read more
