Chest pain following mva could it be cracked sternum?

Chest pain following mva could it be cracked sternum?

It is possible: Cracked rib/sternum is common in mva in driver hitting chest on steering wheel or even the air bag, especially if you are older and have thin and brittle bones. Fractures typically cause quite a bit of pain right after trauma. If pain slowly came on 1-2 days after the mva, likely it is strain/contusion rather than fracture. Heart attack can cause this type of pain. Please consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more

Tough to say: Without an exam, really tough to tell, but guesses would be costochondritis, musculoskeletal strain/sprain, pyrosis (heart burn), esophogitis, anxiety, heart issues, etc. Best for you to get dr to evaluate you. Good luck. ...Read more

See below.: In young healthy 23 yo without strong history of early familial coronary artery disease this is costochondritis - fancy name for pain in joints where ribs meet sternum. Actually common in your age group. Consider taking a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory agent in full doses for a week or more, methocarbamol, cyclobenzaprine and Gabapentin may work. ...Read more

Leave it alone: There is absolutely no benefit it doing this.Sternums simply don't get tight- you are developing a habit. Just exercise and deep breathing with meditation will be more beneficial. ...Read more

Sternum pain with the feeling to "crack my chest" it's the 4th day. Hurts to move and take deep breaths ideas? I have large breast, could it cause it?
