What is the meaning of conjunctival hyperemia? Is there too much blood there?

Redness.: Conjunctival hyperemia is one form of what results in a "red" eye. The term "hyperemia" refers to an engorgement of the blood vessels in any part of the body. In this case it is in the conjunctivae. It is a sign of inflammation in the part of the body where the "hyperemia" is present. The blood vessels are engorged as a result of additional inflammatory cells accumulating in the blood vessels.

Which adnexa?: "Adnexa" is plural of "adnexum" which means accessory organ. Skin adnexa include hair, sweat glands and sebaceous glands. Uterine adnexa are the ovaries and tubes. Hyperemia means increased blood flow, which gives the organ a red color and can be due to congestion or inflammation

What is the redness and heat of an inflamed area from hyperemia caused by?

Blood flow: The cardinal signs of inflammation are pain, swelling, loss of function, redness and warmth. The last two are related to increased blood flow through the site of inflammation. I have had hyperemia in my eyes for a long time now!?

Red eyes: There are many causes for red eyes. You could try some over-the-counter lubricant drops to see if this helps. Avoid allergy or "get the red out" drops as they can make the red eyes worse. If this does not help, make an appointment with an ophthalmologist.

Esophagus : hyperemia and erosion present at the lower end?

See your doctor.: The only one who can tell the significance of these findings is the doctor who did the endoscopy in the first place. I would ask that doctor to explain what the findings mean and recommend where to go from here. Good luck.

Mild depent hyperemia in the posterior lung base?

Mild depent hyperemia in the posterior lung base?

Unimportant usually: Radiologist code intended to indicate slight excess fluid in the lower part of the lung field (posterior if lying down) due to the influence of mild excess volume in the blood vessels and effect of gravity and not typical of other causes. Description implies 2 issues- > usual blood vessel volume and cause as gravity and positioning. Danger is if this is being misinterpreted by the radiologist.

I've read from several articles that frequent masturbation can cause prostatic hyperemia and thus cause prostatitis. Is that real?

I've read from several articles that frequent masturbation can cause prostatic hyperemia and thus cause prostatitis. Is that real?

Reading is good: Reading is good, and makes a young person well-rounded and wiser about affairs of the world. One's prostate gland does not know where one's penis is (for example, outside the girl vs. Inside the girl), and one's prostate does not know how the penis is being stimulated (for example, with hands vs. Inside the girl). So, the effects from vaginal sex or masturbation appear identical to one's prostate.

3 months ago I stopped using clear eyes. Now, after 3 months my eyes are turning really bloodshot. Could this be rebound hyperemia?

3 months ago I stopped using clear eyes. Now, after 3 months my eyes are turning really bloodshot. Could this be rebound hyperemia?

Doubt: Using the eye drops sound like they helped you, it is ok to continue the drops. The main cause of redness is dryness and irritation, the treatment is artificial tear drops.

What does patchy hyperemia throughout stomach and colon mean? Is it a medical condition?

What does patchy hyperemia throughout stomach and colon mean? Is it a medical condition?

Subjective: I presume your colonoscopy endoscopy report said patchy hyperemia. Usually this is nothing just like facial flushing when you are nervous. Sometimes hyperemia is associated with inflammation, but biopsies of the hyperemic areas would confirm this. You should ask your gastroenterologist.

Had a pelvic ct. What does adnexal hyperemia and bladder not well distended mean?

Had a pelvic ct. What does adnexal hyperemia and bladder not well distended mean?

Focus on hyperemia: Adnexa=area of ovaries, Hyperemia=increased blood flow. Assuming nothing else was mentioned this is likely a normal finding. Despite advances in CT technology, I still believe an ultrasound is the best way to examine the adnexa and bladder. "Bladder not well distended" just means you went to the bathroom before the scan. It is normal.

I had a CT scan. It says nonspecific nodular hyperemia along left lateral hepatic segment, questionable flash filled hemangioma. What does this mean?

Benign: Hemangiomas are benign non cancerous disorders of blood vessels. These are reassuring and should just be followed conservatively by your doctor.

Recovery: Assuming no circulatory deficit and good cardiovascular conditioning there is nothing else proven to accelerate recovery

My MRI reads: Modic type I curvilinear trabecular stress response/hyperemia at L4-5. what does that mean. I have had low back pain with leg and feet?

Modic changes: Describe various stages of vertebral body end plate marrow changes in the progression of degenerative disc disease. It could potentially be associated with pain, but not the leg/foot pain you describe, because it doesn't involve nerve roots.
