Friend hit me in the head. Not hard, more like a joke. Could that cause a concussion or brain bleed?
I hit my head really hard on the sharp edge of a concrete wall and felt stunned for a few seconds. I am panicking I have a brain bleed.?
First off it is a good sign you are able to get on the internet and send a message. Although you hit your head and you were stunned you were not knocked out. So if you were not knocked out, you do not have skull fracture and you are not on anticoagulants it puts you at low risk for head bleed. Follow these guidelines

How long can a brain bleed last? I hit my head 3months ago and felt fine till I started to experience mild headaches from time to time. I'm scared
Brain bleed?: The chances of a healthy 20-year-old having a "brain bleed" from an ordinary head bump are extremely remote. I think you can safely find something else to be scared about. Just read the newspaper. ...Read more
I'm on coumadin (warfarin) with stable INR. Hit my head on the handle above car door. No bruise, bump, or selling. Some soreness. Could I have brain bleed?
Good Question: Procedures that were performed our presume that CAT scan in them or I would've picked up a blame brain bleed. While there is reports of a delay bring a lead within 24 to 48 hours this would be unusual. A careful history with attention to changes in cognitive status would be helpful and will determine whether a further evaluation is needed. Good luck ismy wishes. ...Read more

Hit myself in temple with knuckle hard 4 month ago last two weeks keep feeling lightheaded And dizzy could it be related? Brain bleed? Stress?
Post concussive: Trauma to the head can incur an internal shaking of the brain, resulting in microtrauma to cells and supporting structures. These can all combine into the "post-concussive syndrome". It does not require actual loss of consciousness. Symptoms can persist for weeks and can include dizziness and loss of concentration ability. A good quality brain MRI scan is helpful for diagnosis and evaluation. ...Read more

Could an iPad falling 2 ft onto the top of your head cause a slow brain bleed? Happened last week. Diagnosed w vertigo today. Didn't know if related
Yes.: Head trauma can produce a slow bleed, but symptoms are progressive and unlikely to consist of vertigo alone. Vertigo is not a diagnosis. It is a symptom which may represent any one of a number of underlying problems (problems in the inner ear, vestibular nerve or in brain itself.). Best to check with your doc so that you understand the cause and specific treatment of your vertigo. ...Read more

If I had a brain bleed would the pain get worse and lessen? Would a spot in the back of my skull be tender to the touch? I've had no head trama.
If you have had no: Head trauma, than you fear a hemorrhagic stroke or an aneurysm? Most likely, if you had either of these, you would not feel it on the outside of your head and you would have neurologic signs ie limb weakness, problems speaking, confusion or any other neuro signs associated with damage. If you are having any other neuro signs, get checked out, but otherwise it does not sound like an active bleed. ...Read more
Heads been sore on and off for few days. Not dizzy but head does feel weird and unsteady/wavy. Scared I'm going to have a brain bleed! Had scan 5 y ago?
Bleed unlikely: A hemorrhagic stroke is dramatic to the point of not being questionable at all. You will lose use of limbs on one side or become extremely weak on one side, or loose consciousness altogether. If you're truly worried and have risk factors (fam. History, blood thinning,), talk to your PCP and ask for imaging for re-assurance. ...Read more

What are the symptoms of brain bleeding? Are headaches, ringing ears, red eye related? (I was in a car accident didn't hit my head, just back&forth)
Closed head injury: To get brain bleeding from a car accident just by accelerate-decelerate motion of the head is possible if the person is on anticoagulant (blood thinner) and have a brain that is less then healthy, such as in cerebral atrophy. Usual sypmtoms are stiff neck and severe headaches, and confusion. I mean severe! There maybe bleeding from the ear. But ringing and red eye not so clearly related. ...Read more
Can a toddler shake them self to much to cause a brain bleed? My toddler rocks back and forth hitting his back hard on the couch repeatedly.
Unlikely: A baby can not causes any significant brain damage by their own movements. Now if they fall or hit their head on something, them the fall could cause damage. If a toddler is have a tantrum, for example, and they are kicking and screaming on a hard floor, they can cause at the extreme some local cuts or bruising but very unlikely to cause actual brain damage. ...Read more

I am 60 hours since hitting head, my pupils are still equal and react to light, can I rule out brain bleeding?
No: Loss of pupil reflex is a very late and very serious finding. Assuming a mild trauma (hit on counter etc) the likelihood of intracranial bleed is low. Many studies also have demonstrated that even with significant trauma, in the absence of neurological symptoms, bleed is unlikely. The only way to know for sure is ct. If you have any symptoms, see your doctor. ...Read more

I had a brain MRI without contrast after hitting my head that was "normal". Would it have shown increased pressure or bleeding without contrast?
CT w/o contrast: MRIs ate great but not the gold standard for strokes or bleeding. A CT w/o contrast is usually what is used to determine if you are bleeding in your brain. In any event Imagining is only a small part of the puzzle, your history plus how you hit your head and your current symptoms plus vital signs all need to be looked at together. Would there be any sign of a slow brain bleed on initial cat scan if bleeding starts later, would I haveany symptoms?
My dad passed out hitting his head on tile floor couple of weeks ago. Er CT was neg. Mri this week showed 'nodule on brain'. Could it be a slow bleed?
Small contusion?: It's very difficult to say what this "nodule" is without seeing images, but it is possible this may represent a tiny brain contusion, which was better detected on the mri. Slow bleeds typically occur in the subdural space and assume a more lentiform shape, not nodular, so given the limited information I would say it is unlikely to represent slow, ongoing bleed. ...Read more

My husband is in ticu after falling off a ladder and hit his head on concrete. He has some bleeding on the brain. When neurosurgeon comes in what questions should I ask?
A lot depends on what the surgeon recommends. Not all bleeding requires surgery. Much depends on the severity of the bleeding and the condition of the patient. I would start with:
How bad is the injury? What are his chances for a good recovery? What can be done to improve the chances?
Good luck. ...Read more
