NONE: Yes it is possible rarely the clip ( 'clamp' ) can come off It happens in the first few days after surgery only not this late ( immediate post OP ) By 3 rd wk fibrous tissue ,scar tissue will seal of the area , don't worry now surgery was done 8 yrs ago. Normally the small intestines are designed to tolerate bile as that would normally be where the bile from the GB via bile duct would get into the system. however, you can get bile flowing into the stomach causing bile gastritis with symptoms similar to an ulcer. If it is leaking out of your incision definitely not normal check with your surgeon right away if you were told that you have a collection of bile in the area of surgery by your surgeon that mean he is keeping the eye on it usually it will stop or it could be drained without surgery some leak might need to be checked and treated by endoscopy called ercp. ...Read more

I had my gallbladder removed in january and after that had a bile leak and a stent put in and removed and have had constant pain everyday.

Should resolve: I'm sorry you had a post op bile leak - that's a known risk of about .3-.5 percent. The bile is caustic, and can certainly be irritating. After the stent placement, and the leak has been sealed, the discomfort should resolve. If you are still having discomfort, follow up with your surgeon. Good luck. ...Read more
