Artery (Definition)

Arteries are a type of blood vessels. We can divide blood vessels into 2 categories. Arteries are high pressure vessels which deliver (red) oxygen + blood out into the body. Veins on the other hand or low pressure vessels which return (dark) oxygent - blood from the body ...Read more

Do my arteries have to be badly damaged of some kind to rupture or could I get too high BP so it ruptures?

Do my arteries have to be badly damaged of some kind to rupture or could I get too high BP so it ruptures?

Control BP: At 22 years of age it would be very unlikely that you would have a blood vessel rupture. However, it is possible with extremes of high blood pressure for the small arteries in the brain to form an aneurysm and rupture even if they are not damaged to start with. This is called a hemorrhagic stroke. Most damage from high BP takes years to show up but it can be severe like heart attack or stroke. ...Read more

What's the highest BP that has ever been reported? If u would raise BP until something ruptured wich artery would rupture first u think?

What's the highest BP that has ever been reported? If u would raise BP until something ruptured wich artery would rupture first u think?

Severe htn: I have seen systolic bp greater than 300 and diastolic bp over 160. Retinal arterioles famously show rupture first -- but not exclusively. Glomerular capillaries rupture easily too. And intracranial vessels are vulnerable - but uniquely protected by cerebral autoregulation ...Read more

Could my arteries rupture if my BP gets too high? have prob. that makes BP super high after small things and pulse gets super strong in neck

Could my arteries rupture if my BP gets too high? have prob. that makes BP super high after small things and pulse gets super strong in neck

Not very likely: You are young and presumably healthy. Arteries don't just rupture even with very high blood pressure unless they are diseased. Highly unlikely at your age. It does sound like you might benefit from some counseling or perhaps some biofeedback training to help control these exaggerated responses that you have. ...Read more

Not always: ur restin bp should be controlled 130/80. then regular gradual training. high Bp over time will make aorta rupture. So control bp ...Read more

Can a pulmonary artery rupture be fatal?

Can a pulmonary artery rupture be fatal?

Rupture PA fatal: The pulmonary artery is large, with pressure lower than systemic pressure. So, yes a rupture, tear, of laceration in the pulmonary artery (or one of its many branches) can be lethal; blood loss, not easy to control, or compress. ...Read more

Is it possible to check your pulse so much that your carotid artery ruptures?

Is it possible to check your pulse so much that your carotid artery ruptures?

Not likely: I know of no cases of a ruptured carotid artery from excessive pulse checking. At 23, your carotid artery should be healthy and without significant calcification or cholesterol buildup which can cause a problem with blockage but not rupture later in life. ...Read more

How does one know if one has a ruptured pulmonary artery?

How does one know if one has a ruptured pulmonary artery?

One is dead: A ruptured pa is one of the fastest ways to die. I wouldn't worry about it. If you're coughing up blood, and it's not from a nosebleed, that's a medical urgency if not emergency, but it's probably not a pa rupture. ...Read more
