Night before last I began cold/sinus symptoms: congestion, frontal headache, earache, and jaw/tooth ache. I'm 30 wks pregnant. What can I take safely?
Multiple Issues?: Sounds like you could potentially have multiple issues going on, but possibly a good sinus infection. Pregnant women can typically take Tylenol (acetaminophen) but not NSAID's (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen). Antibiotics that are in pregnancy category B are considered safe such as penicillin & amoxicillin. This assumes you have no allergies, but you need to see a doctor/dentist for a diagnosis. ...Read more
Long term numbness on left side eyesight blurry. Been over a year now symptoms getting worse more numbness earache what could it be? Brain MRI clear
Need a long-term doc: your condition sounds serious. You should establish care with a doctor who can follow your symptoms & guide you appropriately (perhaps whoever ordered the MRI?). Alternatively, use HealthTap Prime. Since the MRI, I assume, is negative, thoughts of a complicated Migraine and Temporal Arteritis come to mind. Other tests (mainly clinical exam) establish these conditions - won't show up on Radiology. ...Read more
Not usually: Otalgia, or ear pain, can be caused by infections of the middle ear, infection of the outer ear, referred pain from the jaw, or eustachian tube dysfunction. The last item is the feeling you may get of "popping" when on an airplane as it is ascending or descending due to changes in pressure. Hearing loss and deafness can be the result of repeated severe ear infections, but this is not common. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Not likely: I always hesitate to say "never, " but i don't believe I have heard impaired healing as a symptoms of a tooth infection. Ear pain is quite common, however. The pain can be a referred pain, or be originating in the jaw joint just in front of the ear. Best way to investigate is to have the teeth looked at by a dentist or see an ENT for your ears. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes: Due to the proximity of the ear to the mouth, and the distribution of nerves in the area, dental problems can often cause pain to radiate to the ears. Frankly, gum disease seldom hurts until an advanced stage (periodontal abscess). Tooth abscess frequently presents with ear pain. Also, "tmj" problems (from jaw joints or associated muscles) often causes chronic ear pain or ringing in ears. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Terrible earache, 100.3 fever and sinus pain. My doc gave no antibiotics yesterday. I told him its been 4 weeks now , same symptoms. What can I do ?
See an ENT doctor: You need to be seen again and fully examined and perhaps evaluated with imaging studies to determine what is going on and the extent of involvement. You have a severe chronic infection and the potential for very severe complications of sinusitis exist and need to be assessed. If your doctor is unfamiliar with these you may need a second opinion. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 8 yr old is complaining of sore ears. Not inside her ears like with an earache. No other apparent symptoms. Should I be concerned at all?
Headaches. Earaches. Ringing in ears. Mostly on right side of head and right ear. Any other symptoms to look out for? Should i see my gp?
Yes.: Ringing in the ear (tinnitus) is common and there are many causes. Unilateral tinnitus always needs to be evaluated more carefully. Most gp's can help to find out what the cause is. Sometimes you may need to see an otolaryngologist (ENT) and sometimes people need to have an mri. Start with a good history and exam with your physician and take it from there. Good luck! ...Read more

8 year old daughter woke up with sinus pain, sore throat, earache, congestion. What can I give her to treat the symptoms? She is extremely healthy, has never had sinus symptoms before. No fever yet.
There : There are a few things you can do to treat a cold caused by an upper respiratory virus. - voice rest - probably the best thing you can do for a sore throat and raspy voice. - drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated - hot tea with honey and lemon - chicken noodle soup - our grandmas were right! research shows that chicken noodle soup is very helpful in treating a cold. - or just a spoon-full of honey - honey has been shown to be as effective a cough suppressant as many over the counter medications - inhale steam from a shower or cool mist from a vaporizer - Acetaminophen and/or Ibuprofen can help with inflammation and throat, ear and sinus pain symptoms from a cold virus should start to improve after a few days. If it does not, of if she gets worse or has any difficulty breathing, call her doctor. You should also call her doctor if the sore throat worsens (could be strep) or if her ear pain worsens (ear infection) or for any new fevers or rash. ...Read more
My mom has a sore throat, chest congestion and a earache..She is on aspirin, losartin and citalopram...What antibiotics can she take for her symptoms?
See her doctor: Antibiotics will not help a viral illness, if that's what she has. If she feels she has more than a cold (which will improve with rest, fluids, decongestants, etc) she needs to see her primary care doctor for an assessment and suggestions. Since we don't know her whole history (including allergies), and have not examined her, we on healthtap can't recommend particular antibiotics. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
