SaveItForABarbeque: Activated charcoal adsorbs lots of stuff but is not used for"food poisoning"unless due to a toxic chemical, not the type of food poisoning from bacteria or viruses. Some say it's OK for gas but I don't think so. It comes as tablets & as a liquid mixture. The mixture can get really messy & tastes like Hawaiian poi. Take too much and it will constipate you. Gastroenteritis.: This sounds like acute gastroenteritis — nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pains, fever, chills and sweats are all possible components of this. Could be viral or food-borne, BUT I'd think this is lasting too long, unless you tell me that you ate fried rice before this started as there's a bacterium in fried rice that can cause symptoms for upwards of 14 days. May take a while.: If you truly had a stomach infection then it will take a while to clear. The gas is all part of the process of getting back to normal. If you are having a lot of stress besides this can contribute to the gas and GI upset. You need to talk this over with your doc and plan the best treatment for you together.
