It is a body tissue that has the ability to contract. It shortens and generates force. It relaxes and returns to its original length. Muscles move joints, stabilize the body, move air and food through the organs, act as valves for bladder, bowel and other organs. They control movement of the eyes. They help us express ourselves by changing the shape of our ...Read more
Sore neck and headaches base of skull hurts goes away with heat application it's more annoying and constant.Sore neck muscles too. What can I do?
Evaluate posture: Sore neck and headaches that resolve with heat are usually benign and commonly related to muscle tightness or overuse. The first thing i would do is evaluate the activities I do on a regular basis and neck posture doing those activities. A common problem is a computer screen that is too high or too low requiring prolonged periods of time looking up or down. ...Read more

Regular body aches and flu symptoms. Neg spinal tap, neg thyroid tests, neg blood panels, some low platelets, always feel sick and no idea what to do?
You need a good Doct: You need a complete History and physical examination done by an internist(have you consulted one yet?). Send us the actual reports of any abnormal blood tests, like platelets which you are concerned about. If your appetite and weight are normal, you are likely to have no serious disease. Sometimes you have to just ignore minor aches & pains and do daily exercise. That in my book is the best medici ...Read more

I have had a headache for 6 years straight, and i have a sore neck as well, what is the cause and what can be done? Muscle exercises do not help. Ty
Chronic headache: That sounds terrible. Please see your doctor and ask what medical and alternative therapies you can use to help reduce your pain. Muscle exercises are a good start, but some lifestyle changes, especially diet and sleep can help. Medications may be used judiciously, but I'm guessing that Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Aleve have not been helpful. Good luck. ...Read more

Hard mass on right side of neck. Been there over 6 months. Been to dr twice say it is a muscle. Isn't getting better still sore neck pain. What is it?
Get an MRI: Hard mass in the neck could have several causes. Muscle spams usually get better after a few weeks, so it's less likely. Depending on where the mass is i would recommend an MRI of the neck. If the mass is benign looking (lipoma, etc.), then you need an MRI of the cervical spine to see if a disc is causing neck pain. See a spine specialist for the neck pain, ; ENT for the neck mass. ...Read more

Why do my neck muscles feel sore after I've had one or two beers to drink? This is something I've experienced only after drinking.
Not common: Some people are more likely genetically to generate toxic compounds in their blood after drinking alcohol because of metabolic variants. Another possibility is that you experienced trauma sometime in the past and the alcohol use triggers you not feeling safe and hence the neck muscles contract and hurt. In Chinese medicine it might be explained by liver yang energy rising. I can only surmise ...Read more
