Hypothyroidism: The symptoms you have are more compatible with hypothyroid state. You are on the lowest dose yet and likely your doctor is adjusting it, just can't give a very high dose right away. Thyroid "normal": As you obviously know all your symptoms fit into hypothyroidism. What you may not know is that the so called normal range thyroid levels is rather broad. You may very well still be hypothyroid. I would suggest seeing an endocrinologist who may be more liberal in your lab readings. ...Read more

Can be but chk w/ dr: Mind ; body are the same you - physical pain can lead to emotional pain ; emotional pain can lead to physical pain. You definitely should see yr doctor to rule out any physical causes. If none are found, it could be psychosomatic. People often think this means that it is "all in your head." not so. Just started on synthroid (thyroxine) (finally!!!) how long before symptoms improve (cold intolerance, brittle nails, hair falling out, constipation? What side effects should I watch for or expect? How long before dose increase?

I usually advise: my thyroid patients that it may be SEVERAl WEEKS for them to notice a "difference" and THAT is when I re-check the tests at 2 weeks to begin with! The "cold intolerance " is usually the first to "respond" BE PATIENT!!! It may take several visits before your problem is "sorted out" Hope this helps! Dr Z ...Read more
