Anti-tussive: Anti-tussive is a fancy term for cough medication. In the States, these are available over-the-counter w/o prescription. I don't know about Cambodia. However, this assumes that your cough is due to a virus. Best to see your family doc for an evaluation to be sure it's nothing more serious. With that said, you don't need antibiotics for viruses. See doctor...: This could be a sign of bronchospasm which can be treated with bronchodilator inhalers. Some people have coughing instead of wheezing as a sign of bronchospasm. Other possibilities for your cough include post-nasal drip, GERD, bronchitis, etc. The only way to get diagnosed and treated is to see your doctor. You have been coughing long enough!!! Several things: Firstly..I hope you've told your doctor this. Are you short of breath with it? What is your cd4? Are you undetectable? If your CD4 is <200 are you on Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) or dapsone? If its lower than 100 are you on weekly azithromycin? A chest xray is needed. The good thing is TB isn't associated with a productive cough. This does need working up though. I hope its as simple as bad post-nasal drip. ...Read more

Cold: If it is an acute problem within the last few days it could be cold, if going on for more than 4- 6 wks it could be related to allergies. In either way try to reduce the secretions with over the counter antihistamine, and may be fluticasone nasal spray.
