Cold persistent : You cold has been persistent for 2 weeks and it involves breathing. I think you should see your family doctor of the one how prescribes the humilin for you if you can see them . I think you need a chest X-ray . If you are coughing colored secretions, you will need antibiotics. See the doctor on Monday or Tuesday. You will be feeling better by the first of the year. Not uncommon: It is possible when the weather is more extreme, as in very cold, that the humidity may be rather low and dry out your mucous membranes, particularly the ones that line your nose. When they dry out, you may be predisposed to nosebleeds. One option: 1 function of the nose is to warm cold air before it moves to the lungs. Capillaries in the nose dilate to bring warm blood to the nares. As these tissues fill with blood the nose becomes congested. Any air that makes it to the lungs that is still cold can trigger release of histamines & cause bronchospasm. Recommend wearing a scarf on other clothing article that can be placed over nose/ mouth. ...Read more

Mgt: If the cough persists for three or more weeks, a follow up visit is advised. Typically upper respiratory tract infections may take two weeks to resolve. Sometimes there can be prolonged inflammation or bronchospasm.
