Numbness : Numbness that shoots from the big toe up the lower limb and triggered by movement of the toe sounds like neuritis. Neuritis is caused by irritation or injury to a nerve. In this case, the involved nerve could be one of the digital (that's digit as in toes) nerves to the big toe, the medial plantar nerve, or the posterior tibial nerve. Since feet take such a beating, from things including the activities we do and the things we wear on our feet, it is not surprising that the nerves in our feet can be injured. Digital nerves can sometimes become swollen, causing something called morton's neuroma. The medial plantar nerve can be hurt by badly-fitting arch supports. The posterior tibial nerve can get pinched at the ankle, something called tarsal tunnel syndrome. Foot nerves can also be made more liable to injury by other conditions, like diabetes and vascular disease. Podiatrists, who specialize in diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the feet, may be a good resource for foot nerve injuries. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hi the other day i twisted my knee getting up out of bed its not bruised or swollen but getting a numb feeling in my toes how long will it take toheal?
Wait for to six week: The perineal nerve runs along the outside of your knee and occasionally can be injuried with a twist. This can cause toe numbness. Another likely cause may be injury to a disc in your back. Are you having any back pain? In either instance wait about six weeks to see if the numbness stops. If it does not (or if it worsens) see a orthopedist or physiatrist for a formal evaluation. ...Read more

Can be many things: Unfortunately this is a very general question with hundreds of answers without more detail on your condition. But, combined the two can both occur at the same time from a low lumbar spine disc bulge or herniation causing a "sciatica". But, to show you why this is a tough question, it could be something totally different like gout or lyme disease from a tick bite, so much more info is needed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Pain down inside of left leg from underneath knee too big toe , sort of a numb pain but alot worse , had for 5 hours now and get it a lot.
Can be Radicular: You have pain and numbness in a specific area governed by a single spinal nerve root. Most commonly caused by a ruptured ("slipped") intervertebral disc. There is no effective first aid. Most often there is an accompanying backache and a history of a back stressing accident. Active rest may leave you with the 80% who heal. Else a physiatrist, orthopedist or neurosurgeon can guide your recovery. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

The pads of my big toes are numb because I am on my feet at work for 7 hours a day. I also have painful knees. After 7 weeks its no better. Advice? Tx
Toes: If numb toes only intermittently would not worry. If constant nerve conduction study might show neuropathy for which we don't have much treatment for numbness. The knees need to be evaluated if continues to interfere with ur life which would include physical eval and possible X-ray ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
