Symbicort Side Effects
Yes, but saves lives: Higher doses of inhaled steroids are associated with more local side effects such as hoarseness and thrush. These can be reduced with use of a spacer with your inhaler. Higher doses are also associated with an slight increased risk of pneumonia and may have an effect on your bone density over time. However, uncontrolled asthma is associated with a poor quality of life and increased mortality. ...Read more
Very similar: Both are medications that contain two medicines - a long-acting beta agonist (laba), which helps with bronchodilation, and an inhaled steroid. The big difference is the form - advair is more an inhaled powder formulation, where symbicort is a mist inhaler more like your rescue inhaler works if you use one with asthma or copd.So it really boils down to what your insurance covers and preference type. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
How long do the side effects of symbicort last? Will they go away in a few days or weeks? It is making me dizzy.
Shaking a lot after just taking symbicort first time. Does it actually act this fast? Is this a side effect?
Just started dulera. Was on symbicort. Is side-effect profile similar? Any more likely to have sinus symptoms on dulera? How about cataracts?
Very close: I don't think the side effect profile is any different between the two but the actual side effects will be depended on the total dose of steroid included. Is being on symbicort for asthma for 7 years but on off has bad effects and how can I stop using it without complications?I seldom get any attacks now
Bad effects?: If you mean sore throats or throat infections, this is caused by the Budesonide in the symbicort (a cortisone). This is common with inhaled cortisones. If you mean jittreriness, getting "hyper" or similar things, this is the formoterol (long acting beta agonists). Talk it over with your physician. Maybe you can be controlled with only the cortisone type spray alone. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
