Yes: You describe symptoms of radiculopathy which is when a nerve malfunctions due to some type of pressure on the nerve. You should see your family md for evaluation and they can do an MRI for evaluation. Radiculopathy: Most herniated disks will get better on their own, however if the symptoms worsen after conservative treatment then other methods should be investigated. Surgery is an option when weakness, pain and sensory loss all correlate to the location of the disk herniation. Usually physical therapy, steroid injections and other methods are employed first.
