Visit your doctor: Swelling and pain of palate may be due to many reasons like trauma, allergy, irritants, infection, etc. Treatments vary depending on the underlying condition. If the symptoms persist more than 10 days, please visit your dentist or doctor for evaluation.
What is the best way to reduce the size of a swollen soft palate? I am on nasonex, (mometasone) but that doesn't seem to help all that much. Any other suggestion
Could be viral infec: Mouth lining (roof and throat/tongue) are prone to viral infections (sometimes called Canker sores). They often produce shallow ulcers which take 2-3 weeks to heal spontaneously. Usually there is no treatment required. So give it another 7-10 days. If it does not settle down then you need to go see your doctor for a medical check up. You may need antibiotics.
See your surgeon: The best person to answer your question is your surgeon since he knows your case. Everyone is different and healing can vary. Call the surgeon.

I scratched my tonsils and soft palate while eating a tortilla chip. Tonsils are slightly swollen with a thin streak of white. Is this normal healing?
Yes: If you are asymptomatic, that is without pain or bleeding from the tonsil, I would not do anything. If you are symptomatic with pain or pain on swallowing, see an ENT doctor.
I noticed some light brown spots on my soft palate and I have a swollen right tonsil. I smoke once a week for 1.5 years (hookah). Should I be worried?
Yes: Smoking with a hookah can cause cancer. That said, what your seeing may be anything from normal pigmentation to something quite serious. Please make an appointment to see your Dentist ASAP for an examination, hopefully to rule out anything serious. And please wean yourself off of any type of smoking habit unless you think the Surgeon General doesn't know what he's talking about.
Midline portion of palate is swollen and tender. I also wear a partial plate. Thoughts on what would be causing the swelling and tenderness?
partial plate: The partial plate is probably pushing on the roof of your mouth and should be checked by you dentist for an adjustment. Usually this is the problem. Sometimes a tooth is creating the swelling. It is also common for bone to grow on the palate (palatal tori) as it expands a s ore will develope because it is trying to occupy the same space as your partial. Adjust the partial or remove the toriSee 1 more doctor answer
I have a swollen palate. My dentist removed my wisdom tooth to see if that would help but its still swollen. What could be causing the swelling?
Many possibilities: Is it hard or soft, movable, located next to teeth or in the midline, red, white, or normal pink, painful to the touch or not, infected, etc? If your Dentist has not been able to diagnose the lesion, ask your Dentist to recommend an Oral Surgeon for consultation.
For 4 months, I have had intermittent swelling of my soft palate (it doesn't look swollen, but appears to be sinking lower in my mouth). What is it?
? ? Epiglotitis: Please consult ENT specialist at the earliest. The description you have given is not clear. My concern is you should not have a serious problem like epiglotitis missef out. All the best!See 1 more doctor answer
