Tripped, fell, top of foot swollen for 5 days. Painful, switches between mild and severe. What do I do? No other part of foot swollen.
Get checked: You could have a fracture and there is no way to be sure without an x-ray. Don't walk on it, if it hurts. If we could tell whether or not you had a fracture by reading your description or just by looking at the outside of your foot, then x-rays would not have been invented! Get checked so you know how badly you are injured and how long it will take to heal, too! Hope it's nothing major!See 2 more doctor answers
You would need: To be evaluated in person by a foot doc. The question is to general and a clinical exam including palpation of the foot range of motion testing and possibly xrays to arrive at a correct diagnosis is warranted.
Swollen/pain top of foot, no break shown. Wearing small removable bootcast. Having MG enough onweakness BUT normal for extra pain/weak due to unlevel?
Nerve: Could be irritation to the superficial nerves close to the skin surface.
Yes, maybe: There are several things that can cause swelling on top of foot and stress fracture is one. If you suspect this, see your podiatrist or orthopedist. You will need to get an x-ray and sometimes other testing is necessary as stress fractures can be difficult to visualize on plain x-ray in the beginning of injury.See 1 more doctor answer
Swelling-damage: Usually swelling means some type of damage, either injury or systemic issue. Since you state you hurt foot, I would recommend trying rest with elevation, cold pack, compression with ace wrap, elevation. If this does not take care of swelling and pain, see your pcp, podiatrist or orthopedist.See 1 more doctor answer
Toes/top of foot swollen. I can't seperate my toes. Icing causes more pain/swelling. Feels like it weighs 10 lbs. Swells all the time. Hurts every day for the past 3yrs. Why is this happening to me?
Need to find cause: Of the swelling. I would imagine if you had the condition for three years, you must of sought prior help. Why don't you share what was told to you so far? Without seeing your foot, you don't provide enough information to make an educated diagnosis......See 3 more doctor answers
Black dot under skin on top of foot? My wife said it suddenly started burning. Doesn't appear to have a bite mark or swollen. Any ideas?
If it's your foot-: -how does your wife know it's burning? Such lesions can only be evaluated by an office visit to a dermatologist.
They said X-ray says no breaks but ankle, top of foot all swollen and purple...Is it possible it was misdiagnosed? Can't bear much weight.
Ankle Sprain: X-rays only show bone. When you injure your ankle you can injure the ligaments. Ankle sprains can cause severe pain, swelling and purpura. This is all due to the fact that rupturing of ligaments and small vessels occur. Since no fractures were seen your best bet is to treat as a sprain. This is usually treated with rest, ice, compression and elevationSee 1 more doctor answer

I have experience pain and swollen on my right top foot, I have very large vein on the top of foot going up my leg, the pain and swollen from the vein?
Phlebitis: If you have direct pain along the vein it may be inflamed which is called phlebitis. The top of the foot is an area that can be easily inflamed from tightly laced shoes. Mild phlebitis can be treated with elevation and compression hose. If there is pain outside of the vein you will want to get an x - ray as there are many fragile bones in your foot.

Power drill fell ~12 inches onto top of foot. It was swollen/red at first but it's gone down & im able to walk on it perfectly. Could it be fractured?
Unlikely: Unlikely due to your symptoms but you may have a stress fracture or a bone contusion. If pain and swelling have gone down and able to ambulate without issues, then it is unlikely you need to worry about it. If you are concerned, just set up an appointment for a standing x-ray of the foot. Hope this helps!See 1 more doctor answer
