Pharyngitis+/- sinus: This isn't the cold or flu. This could be bacterial or viral pharyngitis. It could also be sinusitis (you said you had a headache). The neck nodes are anterior cervical chain lymphadenopathy..it goes along with this. Most infections of this type begin to resolve around this time. Anything possible: But not likely. Sometimes strep can be present in your throat without producing disease, but if your neck swelling is due to infection, something else is likely to be going on. Give it time: We know true strep is universally sensitive (killed) by penicillin, but the tissue disruption/pain triggered by infection may take time to improve.
