Poor equipment fit: This obviously could be something else but the most likely reason is poor fitting equipment. Have you had the holes in your bowling ball professionally assessed? Try that.
Sore wrist is common if you are trying to put spin on the ball and if the ball is too heavy.
Try wrist guards and a lighter ball. ...Read more

I have major pain in my right wrist which is also making my hand and arm hurt from the tips of my fingers to my elbow. How can I take care of this?

I dislocated my elbow last saturday and now my hand is getting really swollen, with a bluish tinge. I can feel my fingers, but it's difficult to bend my wrist up because my hand is so fat. It's 1:30am in the morning. How serious is this? Should I go to th

The: The most important concern is circulation. An elbow dislocation disrupts a lot of ligaments around the elbow. However, there are major blood vessels that cross the elbow, too, which can be pinched, bruised, or partially torn (called an "intimal tear" for the inner lining of the vessel), causing decreased blood flow to the hand. There are a lot of criss-crossing vessels (collateral circulation) to supplement bloodflow, so major injuries may not be obvious.

While some swelling and bruising are expected after an injury like this, your hand should have normal feeling and be warm like the other hand. If you check your pulses at each wrist, they should feel about the same. The swelling should go down with elevation.

I assume you mean it has been a week since your injury. While a vascular injury is less likely to show up at this point, clots can still happen.

If you have any signs of poor circulation, go to the nearest emergency room! Otherwise, call your physician to be seen today. ...Read more

Daughters wrist swollen for 2 wks 3 days Drs said its sprain then hand & fingers swelled 2 days ago. Is this still a sprain? There's popping too.

Trauma or not?: If your daughter is 14 or less and there has been trauma, then a fracture of the wrist is much more likely than a sprain. A follow-up x-ray can be helpful in seeing a fracture at times when the first x-ray is normal. In the absence of trauma, other diagnoses must be considered such as infection or an autoimmune condition. ...Read more

Down on hands and knees installing flooring. Left hand/ wrist are swollen, pinky finger and palm numb, hand weak, can't open hand completely.

Compression of nerve: Which will hopefully be temporary. The usual position for a person installing flooring is to support your weight on your extended wrists. This compresses/stretches the nerves as they travel in your wrist to your hand. What you describe is serious, though. But if you stop injuring it, it should improve in a few hours...up to a day or so. Splint it. If it persists longer than 12-24 hours, go to ER ...Read more
