Doctor insights on:
Swollen Pinky Toe Pain
Pain at the base of pinky toe. Pain was very sudden. Cannot put any pressure on it. I have been walking a lot more than normal. What could it be?
Pain: There is a joint at the base of your pinky toe. The joint my be swollen or inflammed. I would wear loose fitting shoes, apply ice twice a day for 10-15 minutes and take some OTC medicine like Advil (ibuprofen) or Motrin. If still painful after 10-14 days seek a specialist.See 2 more doctor answers
Pinky toe: Your pinky toe can become swollen and red from many different reasons. An ingrown toenail with an infection can cause this and also trauma to the toe can also cause these symptoms. You should be seen by a podiatrist for further evaluation.See 1 more doctor answer
More info: Was there any trauma? Swelling and bruise could be a fracture, contusion and other causes but can answer better with more information.
Prob broken: Sounds like you may have broken your toe. It's a good idea to get x-Rays done to see the extent of the damage. GENTLY tape your pinky toe to your 4th toe and wear protective footwear, but nothing that's going to put pressure on it.
Wart or callous?: Hard to say based on your description. Strange for a kid to get a single callous on pinky toe, although I suppose it is possible. It is more likely a type of wart, for which an OTC salycilic acid preparation may be used. Neither callouses nor warts "swell." They do grow in size; but if there's swelling or redness, that is inflammation, possibly related to infection, which should be evaluated.
Outer pinky toe is very red and a bit swollen, possible corn? Very sensitive to touch so if it is a corn I can't file it down. Suggestions?
Soften: If it is a corn, then soaking your foot in warm water for 10 min or so should soften it so you can file it off. If not then see a podiatrist. Could be an early infection.See 1 more doctor answer
I stubbed my pinky toe 3 days ago and its still very painful today. Swollen, red, cant move it, cant touch it. What could be the matter with my toe?
It could be: Fractured or infected. If there was even the slightest break in the skin, it's possible that bacteria on the surface of the skin is now causing an infection called cellulitis. It also possible that you fractured your toe. Infection is more likely if the redness continues to spread and streak up your toe/foot and is warm to touch compared to surrounding skin. You should be seen by a Dr.
On my pinky toe its soft but swollen it feel like there is fluid in the area that's swollen what should I do?
Might need 2 B seen.: Fluid doesn't accumulate without a cause. Typically, it's a reaction to an injury or irritation of some sort. You must consider trauma, infection, insect bite or frictional causes, to name a few. There may be some similarities in the symptoms for each, but other symptom can't be discounted. If you are unsure as to the cause, it would be wise to have it evaluated. Give it a day or two to resolve.
X-rays: The best way to tell if it is broken and not just swollen is to have radiographs taken.See 1 more doctor answer
Many things: This problem can only be solved by seeing your doctor and being evaluated face-to-face. After a thorough examination, your doctor should be able to tell you what's wrong and what to do about it.
Could be anything: It really could be anything ranging from an injury to a soft tissue or bony growth, a callous or even a foreign body. Without a proper physical examination, you will not be able to tell what it is. It would be best to consult with your healthcare provider or podiatrist to determine what is going on with this toe.
My pinky toe is swollen and red. It is painful to touch as well. What could be the cause of this problem?
????: More info would certainly be helpful. New pair of shoes? Bump it and possibly broken?
My pinky toes have become tender to the touch and appears swollen out of no where especially my right pinky toe?
Check your shoe size: Make sure that your shoes are not causing this swelling from not being wide enough for your foot? At the end of the day this can be more pronounced than when you get up, and are walking around barefoot. If it has been a chronic problem, you need to see your PCP or your podiatrist to have this evaluated further. Since it's bilateral (both feet), it will be easier to treat together & may be simple.See 3 more doctor answers
What is wrong with my pinky toe it bends in its swollen, purple and hot to touch it is on the outer side of the toe not or near the nail?
I would recommend: You see a foot doc. Swelling can indicate infection, contusion, gout, fracture. The purple color can be bruising, venous blood congestion...Amongst other things. A foot doc looking and examining the foot would be able to narrow the diagnosis and offer a definitive treatment plan.See 1 more doctor answer
SSo stubbed my pinky toe and it only hurt for like 10 mins. When I got home from work an hr later. It hurts bad and turned like a black color why did it do this. Is it possibly broken? It also hurts to walk on and is swollen
Goll Darn-it.: Swelling, pain and bruising are certainly classic signs of sizable trauma to the toe. Immediate care should include elevating the foot, applying ice to the toe and staying off of it as much as possible. The question of a fracture can be answered soon enough, the main thing now is to minimize swelling and pain. Stabilizing the toe by splinting it to the adjacent one will help. An x-ray will find FX
Injury: Did you injure it, do you have ingrown toenail, see a podiatrist for further evaluation and treatment.
