Mass in Axilla: The Axilla is a complex anatomical structure. Has a pyramidal form, At the apex, jointly pass: Artery, Vein, Lymphatics. And the nerve Brachial Plexus. The lymphatic system collects the drainage from the the entire arm, the side of the chest including the lateral aspect of the BREAST. Small lump in armpit that moves position when I put my arm up or down. Dr says swollen lymph node and don't worry, but it's been there for 3 months?

Small lump in armpit that moves position when I put my arm up or down. Dr says swollen lymph node and don't worry, but it's been there for 3 months?

Your doctor's right: Almost certainly. Leave it alone. I'm going to assume it's freely movable and not fixed to surrounding structures. Many people your age have these. If it's anything nasty, it would have declared itself. I trust you do not have a dominant breast lump or obvious illness that you're ignoring.

Swollen lymph nodes in neck and a hard, movable lump in armpit. Normal CBC from one week ago. Any idea what it can be? Very anxious right now.

See details: Numerous issues can cause lymph node enlargement but the hard mass in the armpit does give one cause for concern. Without knowing your history and being able to examine the areas involved, it is difficult to give specific advice. However, I would urge a complete evaluation including ct scan if this persists.

I'd just watch: For a little bit. Lymph nodes often pop up when we are fighting off an infection of some sort. They can stay enlarged long after the infection is resolved. If it becomes red, hot, increasingly tender, for sure, get it checked out.

Depends on the exam: There are multiple problems with different treatments that could cause this problem. You need to see a doctor to have the area examined.

I had a lump in my armpit for one year. It was very small and pain free. Now in 2 days it has become enlarged, swollen and very painful. Is it cancer?

Probably not: If you're a 24 year old male, it's extremely unlikely that you have a cancer causing a lump in the armpit. It is much more likely that it is a subcutaneous abscess. The proper treatment for something like that is I&D (incision and drainage). This can be done under local anesthesia in a doctor's office, preferably either a dermatologist or a general surgeon.

Swollen, painful, irritated lumps under my armpits. Is this chicken pox?

Swollen, painful, irritated lumps under my armpits. Is this chicken pox?

Unlikely: Chickenpox is disease that produces shallow blistering lesions in the skin. These occur in the top layer of the dermis and generally arise in the neck early before progressing to trunk and extremities. The average eruption includes 200-300 blisters. Inflamed lumps, located in your armpits are more likely a bacterial infection of the odor producing glands. Consult your doc for confirmation and treatm.

I have had a lump in my left armpit for a while now. It's painful. And I have a few in the bikini area. Could this be from swollen lymph nodes?

Yes: Lymph nodes are normally located in the arm pits and groin. Tenderness of the lymph nodes is a sign of inflammation, e.g. with an infection in that region.

I have swollen painful/itchy lumps under my armpits, mainly left hand side, following 3 weeks of long and exhausting travelling. Is it just due to fatigue?

Hydroadenitis: You should make sure that you do not have a condition known as hydroadenitis which can be provoked by using deoderants that contain aluminum. If you switch to a non aluminum formula and the problem persists you should check with your primary care provider.

Recurring swollen lump under left armpit. Painful not red. In last, had swollen glands behind ear for months at a time. Worried about cancer.?

Not likely for you: Your age argues against this being a cancer. It is suspicious for some kind of infection or inflammatory problem. Consider seeing a surgeon or dermatologist to discuss the possibility of hidradenitis.

Clogged sweat gland or lymphoma? Small painful lump in armpit, close to skin, slightly red. Remarkably smaller after a few days. No other symptoms.

Lymphoma unlikely: Lymphomas are usually painless. Painful lump means some infection and you should talk to primary care doctor (pcp) and examined in pcp office. If needed, dermatology referral. Watch for fever, weight loss, night sweats which are usually associated with lymphoma. Fever can be associated with infections also and painful swellings.

Get it check: With skin red and lump in armpit, an infection is most likely. You should have someone look at it and see if it is an infection that needs antibiotics or simple drainage. Or something else.

Local infection: It is common for a hair follicle to get infected here. Cancers do not start this abruptly and they do not start painful or red like infections do. An infected hair follicle leaves a lump of healing tissue over several weeks.
