I have a hard pebble sized lump on my outer ear cartilage. It doesn't hurt. Is this something to worry about?

If you have infection of the ear, affecting the cartilage, it is imperative that you see a doctor of proper treatment. It does not seem to be a do it yourself issue. You probably need prescription antibiotics.

Don't do it: I strongly discourage any piecing through cartilage. Although many people have gotten away with it, others have experienced severe pain during the piercing and some have gotten serious infections resulting in potentially defigurement of the ear. However it sounds more likely that you are have issues with your TMJ or hinge joint of your jaw. That is located in that area.
