Lymph nodes: Swollen lymph nodes are common and usually will swell secondary to some type of infection or allergy. I expect your problem should be short lived. However some lymph nodes will swell and remain palpable. This is usually not a concern. However, if they become big or spongy that can be a sine of lymphoma. Get checked! Read more

I have had IBS for 5 years but for the last 3 months I have had dysphagia, swollen lymph nodes on right side of neck and sensation that some one is pu?

Sure, see GI doctor: Difficulty swallowing ("dysphagia") can be distinguished as a "transfer" problem (difficulty moving food from mouth to top of esophagus), "transit" problem (difficulty moving food down the esophagus), "spasm", gerd (due to sphincter problems), or obstructive (webs, rings, strictures, ulcer, tumor). Best to see a gastroenterologist (gi doctor) for evaluation and treatment. Read more

Just found a swollen lymph node on right side of neck, its sore now that I have bothered it. Should I worry? I have another small one on same side

Likely benign, but: The neck is a very common place for mild lymph node enlargements. We do about 5-6 lymph node biopsies a day-from the neck-and most of them are benign. However if rapid growth is noted, or if bigger than 3cm, or if other symptoms develop you need to have it checked. The most common cause of enlarged lymph nodes in the neck are a viral illness, a dental infection, skin infection and "other". Read more

Swollen lymph node on right side of neck for about a year now. Not growing, no pain but abnormal ultrasound on it. What Could this be? Cancer?

Cancer unlikely: If the node has not grown for a year it is unlikely to be cancer. It is not clear what you mean by abnormal ultrasound, as ultrasound is not a usual way to examine a lymphnode. You may wish to discuss that with the doctor who ordered the ultrasound examination. Read more

I have a swollen lymph node on right side of neck for two months I been to the doctor they don't think is cancer can it be from a wisdom tooth?

YES: Any infection in the oral cavity can cause a lymph node to swell. It could be anything from an infected tooth that needs root canal, to a wisdom tooth, to a cancer, or most simply an allergic reaction or a cold. The lymph nodes on the side of the neck drain the mouth and the nose so they can be infected by something as silly as hay fever. Read more

Mastoid process v LN: It's possible you're feeling your own mastoid process -which is a normal boney nodule right behind the ear. Check both sides of your head to see if it's symmetrical -if so, that's what it is. If these are 'asymmetric' findings you should have a physical exam by a doctor who can explain these findings. I would want to know more about your medical condition and risks for cancer, so schedule w/ an MD Read more

I have pericoronitis on my left wisdom tooth, but I have a swollen lymph node on the right side of neck isn't it suppose to be on the left side?

I have pericoronitis on my left wisdom tooth, but I have a swollen lymph node on the right side of neck isn't it suppose to be on the left side?

Unlikely Cause: I think it would be unlikely that the swelling would be on the opposite side. I normally see that the lymph nodes drain from the side of the problem. Are you aware if there is a wisdom tooth under the surface on the right side? There are other causes for a swollen lymph node, too. Read more

Laser tattoo removal on left arm. Noticed swollen lymph nodes on right side and left side of neck been there for 6 months now. Should I worry?

Rare complication: One of the complications of laser removal is formation of lymph node reaction to pigments-granulomaas, often close to tattoo sites. If these are away from sites, please check with your dermatologist or pMD because biopsy may be required. Mercuric sulphides and other metals in the red and yellow pigments are also toxic to tissue and organs so have a check up. Not to worry, lymph nodes often benign. Read more
