I've been sick for 2 months!! Swollen lymph nodes on left side of body. I've been to the Dr. S office 3 times.

More specifics: Do you mean the swollen nodes at the left side of the neck and not the whole body? If so, it may mean that there is a sinus infection or dental abscess. I can't think of a condition which causes nodes to be enlarged involving much of the left side of the body. Perhaps you need a second opinion by seeing another doctor ...Read more

Does HIV cause 3 mild swollen lymph nodes in one side of the neck? No other nodes are swollen in all my body? I tested negative!

Unlikely: The unilateral involvement suggests that It is more likely from an upper respiratory tract infection or a bacterial infection in areas above the neck at that side (sinusitis, dental abscess etc). You would be much sicker if the problem is from HIV. ...Read more

Lymph nodes: Swollen lymph nodes are common and usually will swell secondary to some type of infection or allergy. I expect your problem should be short lived. I have swollen lymph nodes in my neck and my body is really aching. What is going on?

I have swollen lymph nodes in my neck and my body is really aching. What is going on?

Monitoring System: The lymphatic system absorbs and carries things too big to go into the arteries and veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. The lymph nodes "taste" the lymph to see if anything bad is there like bacteria, viruses, cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. ...Read more

Get a medical examin: If the nodes are new, painless, not related to a sore throat, you should have your doctor to examine you and advice further. If the nodes are small (less than 1 to 1.5cm (half an inch) you can watch them for one month to see if they go down or get bigger. I have a few swollen lymph nodes on the left side of my neck for approx 6 months...what can cause this....should I get checked out?

Yes: Any issue with the mouth or upper airway can lead to enlarged node in the neck. It would be good to get is checked. If the node doubles in size, more nodes become large, there is pain or redness, you get fever or lose weight, it would be prudent to seek care at the earliest.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

Each month I get swollen lymph nodes on both sides of my neck, that last four a week or so had it for over 2 years but getting more frequent?

Go see an ENT doctor: It could be just repeated viral infections (colds) but you need to be sure that you do not have strept throat. A visit to your ENT doctor can help. If you want to try controlling it on your own, I wiould sugges that you try taking vitamin c, 500mg daily and give it a 6 month trial (it is pretty cheap vitamin). This may help, in which case you should continue taking it on a regular basis. ...Read more

I'm 22 with 2 swollen lymph nodes on 1 side of my neck for 7 months. They are painless, soft, kinda movable, small, & have not grown. Should I worry?

Lymph nodes: Probably not. Probably they are reactive lymph nodes- either from chronic inflammation on the throat or something in your mouth like gum inflammation or tooth problems etc. Since they have been there for 7 months- next time you see your doctor bring this up so your md can examine them. If you're worried or if they grow, absolutely you should see your md sooner to evaluate more. ...Read more

Can I have one or two swollen lymph nodes in my neck (one side) for 10 months and be still healthy? Can have them for no. Reson?

Yes: The nodes will not be swollen for no reason, but the reason isn't necessarily a problem with your health. Lymph nodes increase in size when the immune system is fighting something, like an infections or injury. Having said that, big or painful lymph nodes that don't shrink back down should be evaluated. In your age group, lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes, is a rare but real possibility. Hyj/k. ...Read more
