I have had swollen lymph nodes in my neck for over 9 months. Now when i drink they swell more and hurt. What could this be?

Should i be worried if I have swollen lymph nodes cysts and nodules all in the neck with other symptoms, like pain in the neck when drinking alcohol?
Get checked out: Although the scenario you describe could very well be something benign like mononucleosis or some other viral infection, you could be describing symptoms of malignant lymphoma or hodkins disease. Sure: Depends on the cause. Swollen nodes caused by infection or inflammation would be expected to go back to normal whereas those caused by cancer normally keep on growing (there are exceptions even to this, though).
