Viral illness: Probably a viral illness, who's natural course is around two weeks. If there is a secondary bacterial infection in your sinuses, the bacteria may not be sensitive to the antibiotic, although that would be unusual. I have a fever, white patches on throat. Went to urgent care, told its an ear infection& tonsillitis. Now, front neck pain- swollen lymph nodes?

What medication: If your immune system is working well, your lymph nodes will often get enlarged and can be painful as it filters out the badness. You did not state if they determined what specific infection it was (if they determined the cause) and if you are on antibiotics. There is a chance the infection can get walled off somewhere near the tonsils and you get an abcess. Meds will help, but ENT may be needed. ...Read more
