Swollen lymph node in neck for several months, what's wrong?

Swollen lymph node in neck for several months, what's wrong?

Go see your DR: Most lymph nodes are benign/non-cancerous and can be due to recurring infection in your throat and surrounding skin. But if they are numerous and getting bigger, you may need to be biopsied to rule out any serious ailment including lymphoma. Can somebody has swollen lymph node in neck for 8 month, 2 or 3 & with slight increase in size, 12mm, and don't have a disease? As all doctors told me!

See below : It's great that u saw a doctor for the lymph nodes. I assume your doctor is monitoring them. If there is no evident cause for your lymph nodes and they are growing then a biopsy would probably be a good idea at this point. I would revisit your doctor and tell him/her that it's growing. Good luck. ...Read more

Get checked: Swollen nodes may be residual from a viral infection. The most common bacteria causing enlarged nodes are strep and staph so sometimes going on an antibiotic effective against them will make them smaller which makes it less likely that something bad is happening. Even in cases of lymphoma blood testing is normal. I would see an ENT for further evaluation. ...Read more

Swollen lymph node in neck for three months (sometimes tender) unintended weight loss, headaches, saw doc, did blood work, still waiting, what is it?

Need more info: You doctor ordered the blood tests as it is not feasible to come to a conclusion from examining you and the history. It is not practical to provide a better opinion than your doctor who has more information than we do in this forum. I understand your concern and you need to be patient for the test results. Just to caution you, blood test may not provide answer and biopsy may be needed. ...Read more

WOW: Are the nodes tender? How big are they? Do your night sweats come with a fever, and if so, does the fever come on a schedule (periodic fever)? Talk to your doctor and if he is concerned, the ultimate would be a biopsy. Good luck! ...Read more

2 wks after 1st gardasil shot swollen lymph node L side of neck. 3 months later, no change. Did the vaccine cause this? I haven't been sick at all.

Unlikely: Gardasil is not a live vaccine, so it is very unlikely that you would have developed chronic lymphadenopathy as a side effect, especially 2 weeks later. Persistent enlarged lymph node > 1 month should be evaluated. Please see your clinician to have it examined. Take Care! ...Read more
