Reactive process: A reaction to a skin infection would be the most common reason for an enlarged node. Most doctors would place you on antibiotics for a couple weeks. This is a common-: -place for a node to always be there. Funny you should ask, when I was in med school we had a poker club & 1 nite I felt a node behind my right ear & thought I had something serious, but I'm still here & so is the node. Continue monitoring: Many lymph nodes are palpable in areas of the body where close to the skin surface: behind the ears, along the neck and in the inguinal areas. They may swell in reaction to many causes including infection, inflammation, etc... What you are describing is most likely a reactive lymph node. If it swells over time and increases in size, further workup is warranted. ...Read more

Cannot diagnose: Without an exam and the ability to see these lesions cannot tell what they are. If lymph nodes, they are probably doing what they are supposed to, cleaning up inflammation. See your local pcp if these continue or get larger. ...Read more
