Have swollen lymph node behind ear when touched it feels like there's a hard ball in there not on any meds feeling well just got high prolactin levels?

Location issue: If you are talking about right behind ear, there usually aren't major lymph node chains hanging out unless it is more in the neck region. Something that may feel like lymph node in the area may be blocked duct/follicle. Not sure if this has anything to do with high prolactin levels but this would not be typical. You can try warm compress as if this is a blocked follicle, may help. ...Read more

I have had a swollen lymph node behind ear and cough for 4 weeks. Not bigger. I did have eczema on scalp but now better, should I worry?

No, watch & wait: Check the node every couple of weeks. If it doubles in size, other nodes become enlarged, the node becomes warm and painful, or if you lose weight, then see a doctor. It may take a few months for the node to shrink even after the eczema has cleared.

Reactive process: A reaction to a skin infection would be the most common reason for an enlarged node. Most doctors would place you on antibiotics for a couple weeks. If cancer, how fast does a swollen lymph node grow? I've had one (0, 5-1 cm) behind ear for 5 months. Rather soft & moveable. The Doct. Says no worries?

Does not sound worri: Cancerous lymph nodes will typically grow in size over a period of 3 to 6 months. If it remains unchanged in size for 6-12 months, it is very unlikely to be cancerous but there are rare exceptions where a tumor can sit still for 6- 12 months especially cancers like Melanoma tend to do that. ...Read more

Had a swollen lymph node on the side of my neck and small one behind ear for over 4 years. Not bothersome. Not growing. Normal blood tests. Cancer?

Had a swollen lymph node on the side of my neck and small one behind ear for over 4 years. Not bothersome. Not growing. Normal blood tests. Cancer?

Not to worry: One can never rule out cancer unless the lymph node is biopsied. However a lymph node that is painless and not enlarging is most likely a reactive lymph node or calcified lymph node as a result of a prior infection in the area. If the lymph node enlarges or becomes painful I would advise you to have it examined by a physician. ...Read more

Mastoid process v LN: It's possible you're feeling your own mastoid process -which is a normal boney nodule right behind the ear. Check both sides of your head to see if it's symmetrical -if so, that's what it is. If these are 'asymmetric' findings you should have a physical exam by a doctor who can explain these findings. I would want to know more about your medical condition and risks for cancer, so schedule w/ an MD ...Read more
