Ice, taping and rest: Toe swelling can last for weeks if not months for trauma. Because there's so little fat and tissue around the toe, swelling occurs without resistance. Icing, taping and massage can help decrease swelling but most likely will need a lot of patience.

Toes (Definition)

Toes are the digits at the ends of the feet, most people have 10 and they normally ...Read more

You should see: A doctor to figure out why it is swollen and numb. Do you have an infection? an injury? Is it an arthritic condition? Why the numbness? these are all questions that in person exam would help figure out.

Infection: A toe that is red and swollen is concerning for infection. This can happen when an athlete's foot infection between the toes causes an open wound which then gets infected with bacteria. Have it checked by a podiatrist promptly.

Not Quite clear.: Is it "I" or "I'm" and "Waking" or "Walking"? Not sure of the question. The difference in your response could mean a lot in the problem.

Foot pain: How much do you weigh & do you have a history of gout? Any trauma? What is your diet like? Consult with us to see if you need an xray or blood work to determine underlying cause.

Dual tissue growth between skin and toenail. One month ago, after going for a 3 hour hike, my big toe on my left foot felt very mildly sore and looked slightly swollen around the base of the nail. One week later, a small tissue growth developed. Two weeks

See podiatrist: Some possibilities may be keratinized tissue, fungus, bacterial colonization, pyogenic granuloma....Without visualization of the lesion harder to give definitive diagnosis. A podiatrist likely can diagnose and offer treatment on seeing the toe.

Get it checked out: There are so many structures on the side of the foot/ankle, it is hard to say without exam. I would recommend going to see a podiatrist--they will take an x ray to determine if it is a fracture vs. A soft tissue injury. In the meantime, start RICE therapy (rest, ice for 20 minutes at a time, compression with an ace wrap, and elevation). Since you are pregnant, do not take meds such as advil (ibuprofen).

See a doctor: You did not mention where is your compression fracture, what is the cause and has there been a recent imaging study. The concern is there may be some form of compression wither at the cord or at the nerve root level. See your doctor and possibly be evaluated by a neurologist and possibly by a spine surgeon.

Things worsen as I await doctors return from vacation. Now little toe on left foot has gone stiff along with toe puffing. Any thoughts on cause?

Things worsen as I await doctors return from vacation. Now little toe on left foot has gone stiff along with toe puffing. Any thoughts on cause?

Worse from what?: What was the problem before this? I'd your little toe is stiff and puffy is it possible you banged it on something? 5th toes are comply injured as they get banged more easily than other digits or are easily squeezed in a tight shoe. Bursitis is a possibility, different forms of arthritis can present this way. An x-ray of the toe is recommended. Ultimately, it's your decision to wait or see someone.

I did nothing to hurt my little toe on left foot but it is killing me! I'm thinking it's the joint?

I did nothing to hurt my little toe on left foot but it is killing me! I'm thinking it's the joint?

See a podiatrist: You could have an infection, you could be delivering a blister from shoe irritation, you could have arthritis. Best to see a podiatriast for evaluation.

I've been gettin these terrible muscle things where my little toe on left foot gets real tight and hurts even tho I have limited feelin can anyone help?

Muscle things: I am not sure what you mean by, "terrible muscle things." if you mean the tight feeling is the same as a cramp, perhaps your shoe gear is not fitting properly. When shopping for shoes do not just state your shoe size, have feet measured and check shoes for proper fit. If you have the latest very high heeled shoe styles, perhaps those shoe types are not for you. Make sure the shoe/foot match fit.

I stubbed my little toe on my left foot and it only hurts a little, but if I stand on my foot the toe turns sideways. I can wiggle it and it just feel?

Subtle fracture: You may have a small fracture to your toe. The best test would be an x-ray. Toe fractures are usually treated with taping the 5th toe to the 4th toe.

Hi dr, for the last week I've been experiencing pain on the outer side of my left foot about half way between my little toe and my heai when I wake up?

Plantar fasciitis: Is most likely cause. Try more supportive shoes and inserts as well as stretching and ice therapy. If still a problem or this gets worse, see podiatrist.

I have sharp pain in my left foot, underside little toe. Its in my foot, not in the toe. When I stand on it, something pokes me.

Foot pain: See a dr. And get an evaluation as maybe you have a splinter that is causing your pain and poking sensation.

I have a numbness of the little toe of the left foot for some days now. Please, can you tell me what may be the reason and what can I do?

Pressure on nerve: If you had tight shoes on or injured your foot you may have compression of the nerve. See a podiatrist for evaluation & treatment.

Tailor's bunion: Sounds like a tailor's bunion which is a bone growth or prominence of the 5th metatarsal head or knuckle on the outside of your foot. It could also be capsulitis or another type of growth. Time for a podiatry appointment.

Left foot- I have a painful lump on the inside of my heel & pain running along the outside of foot from mid foot to little toe. What is causing it?

Left foot- I have a painful lump on the inside of my heel & pain running along the outside of foot from mid foot to little toe. What is causing it?

Pain: Without a physical exam, that is extremely difficult to answer. Based on your description I would suspect infracalcaneal bursitis with peroneal tendonitis secondary to plantar fasciitis. That is speculation. Your best solution is to see your podiatrist for an exam, x rays and a diagnosis.
