Swollen Lips In A Toddler
15 year old daughter has a slightly swollen tongue and is complaining of a sore jaw up in to cheekbone area and a sore throat. No fever...
My 3yr old daughter woke up with a swollen cheek, one swollen eye and a swollen upper lip. Her sheets are clean, what could cause this? Pedi worthy?
Chapped lips, whitish/yellowish coat on tongue in the mornings smelly balls in tonsils. What could it be..Havent seen a dentist in a few years?
Could be: It could be excessive plaque or a candidiasis infection on your tongue. There could be something trapped in your tonsils. I would suggest seeing a dentist and physician to deal with both issues. You might try scrapping your tongue to see if that helps with your tongue. I am assuming you are cleaning your teeth daily... ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 2 year old has a chapped lips with a pus,she has also canker sore inside her mouth and very bad breath?
Gingivostomatitis: While it's possible she has a viral illness, the presence of "pus" deserves a face-to-face evaluation. With the presence of the canker sores, she may not be wanting to eat/drink and there are things that your pediatrician can offer to ease the pain so your child will at least stay hydrated while she's healing. ...Read more
My child has a cold sore on her upper lip that has a black in the middle of it and her lip is swollen. Will an OTC treatment work?
can a child be allergic to petroleum in Vaseline or chapstick because my son broke out in hives and had swelling around his mouth eyes and other area?
Couple things: It's very unusual to be allergic to petrolatum jelly, though it is occlusive and cause itching. Many people are allergic to lip balms of all kinds. But that causes allergic contact dermatitis; e.g. swelling, redness, then peeling over days...usually not "hives", meaning urticaria, that comes and goes over hours. And not in areas not applied (like the eyelids). ...Read more

I have red spots at the very front of my soft palate, a cold, and a bad sore throat. What's going on? My hard palate is white
Sore throat: It is likely you have an infection in your throat. Viral infection will typically resolve on its own. Bacterial infections, however, (ie: strep), will require antibiotics in order to resolve. I recommend you consult with your doctor in order to make the correct diagnosis and initiate appropriate treatment. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
My child has swollen lips and lumps on the iniside of his lips would this be an allergic reaction to amoxicillin?
7 mouth old is teething and drooling and I noticed a bump on edge of her lip and small bumps on her chin. Could this be chicken pox or cold sore?
Not Chicken Pox: The limited location of the rash/bumps make chicken pox unlikely. Chicken pox would also cause symptoms like fever and malaise. The rash could be a virus causing cold sores, but could also be from the irritation of drooling. None of these things would require treatment outside of local skin care, but watch to make sure that she is hydrated and that the rash does not spread to her eyes or throat. ...Read more
My 11-year-old daughter has a bleeding cold sore on the roof of her mouth, which appears pale, with other small sores. One side of her throat hurts.
I have a canker sore and strep throat. A sore similar to the canker sore in my mouth has appeared more on my actual lip. Is this normal?
Herpes?: A very common cause of sores on the lips (not inside like canker sores) is oral herpes ("cold sore", "fever blister"). As these names suggest, other infections like colds or strep throat can trigger herpes outbreaks in persons infected with type 1 herpes simplex virus (HSV1). Herpes is especially likely if it started like a blister or pimple. See a doctor ASAP to confirm diagnosis and Rx advice. ...Read more
