What could be the cause of a swollen left hip area? It has been a few months and it never goes down.

What are the symptoms of Edema? It is painful or painless? My right thigh and hip has swollen with no pain but tired early as compared to left thigh.

My boyfriend is experiencing lower left back pain close to hip noticably swollen to touch and to eye . No other symptom.
Xray: I would maybe suggest he go be seen by his/a doctor and have an X-ray of the hip and rule out a septic joint. You don't mention him having a fever which would make me think that even more, but could be early in the game. My husband had hip replacement 10 yrs ago on left hip. Now he's having severe pain in the center of his incision and foot on that side stays swollen.

I suggest that your husband be seen by his doctor who performed the surgery or at least one of that doctor's colleagues to rule out any issues with his hardware- like loosening.
