Eds?: Not familiar w/ abbreviation. Sounds like u subluxated your patella( kneecap) though . Sorry didn't realize you had ehler's danlos syndrome ... Now i understand. As you know very well your joints are 'looser' than ' normal' joints and kneecaps can 'slip' out of place w/ the stresses of squatting.See your ors for evaluation and quad strengthening/ patellar bracing if needed. Seek more advice: Most likely this represents swelling within your joint called an effusion or swelling outside the joint on top of the patella, called prepatellar bursitis. Either way, you should seek additional advice via a physician evaluation. For now, limiting your weight-bearing and icing the knee 20 minutes every 1-2 hours would be wise. ...Read more

KNEE PAIN: knee pain and popping you need an exam baseline labs and knee X-ray . It may be chondromalacia patellae.(Runners knee) If duration of knee pain is over 3 months a knee MRI would be indicated to define the anatomy and evaluate for structural damage.
