I had a lower tooth extraction 4 days ago. My jaw has a bump and is swollen and so is my neck and extraction site is yellow and white. Is that normal?

Not normal: Go see the dentist who did the extraction ASAP - Monday! It sounds like infection and must be treated before it spreads. Even the ER is a choice if they have no opening tomorrow. How good should dentures fit? My friend recently had an upper denture fitted. It's been two weeks and he still gags when wearing them plus they frequently fall down. He also still has a hole in his upper jaw from tooth extraction which allows liquid to

Well,: Well, your friend has a few problems.

Firstly, he needs to go back to the dentist to take care of the oronasal communication. This cannot stay this way and may need to be surgically repaired.

He may be gagging for a number of reasons: the back of the denture may be a bit too long, or he just needs a little time to get use to it. With the denture moving and falling he will have a very hard time being comfortable.

With the oronasal communication, there will be no way to establish suction to hold the denture in place. That needs to be addressed first, then when that has healed, the denture can be modified to be more comfortable.

Hope this info helps. ...Read more

This will not happen overnight, so you have a bit of time to make that tooth replacement a priority. ...Read more
