I have red, itchy bites on my legs, ankles, and feet. They hurt and I'm not sure what bite me and now they are swollen. What should I do?

Skin reaction: Many patients can have a skin reaction after getting bitten. Mild swelling, redness and itchiness are somewhat initial normal responses. Occasionally, some patients will have worse reactions due to an allergic response. If you are concerned you should have an exam done with the correct diagnosis and treatment plan!

Seeking medical: Attention is never bad or wrong, afterall, you do have a problem. Alternatively, l if you feel comfortable using a sterile instrument you can pop the blister allow it to drain and place some antibiotic ointment to the site and bandage it. Change daily and monitor the wound and yourself for any fever or signs of redness or swelling by the bites.

Dry soles of feet not itchy, red and swollen, I feel they always look a bit swollen? Why? Have used athletes foot. Still feel puffy hard. Flat feet

Dry soles of feet not itchy, red and swollen, I feel they always look a bit swollen? Why? Have used athletes foot. Still feel puffy hard. Flat feet

I think you are on: The right track thinking that this could be Athlete's Foot. Making sure, probably by seeing a Podiatrist or Foot Specialist, might be your best first step. I can't tell from your question if your soles are also red and swollen or NOT red and swollen. If yes, a rare condition called erythromelalgia might be considered. Consider a Dermatology consult, too. Good wishes:)

Leech Bite?: It is actually rare to be allergic or to have a reaction to a leech bite. Assuming it was a leech bite, you could have some irritation and itching, but normally should have no further problems if you have good health and no leech allergies. However, if you are experiencing symptoms such as you describe, then you need to seek medical attention as it may be infected.

Sluggish return.: There is a whole host of conditions that can cause the swelling of the lower extremity. Typically the vascular system is involved, including the venous return. The lymph vessels might also be responsible. To remove all doubt, have your leg evaluated by a vascular specialist. You can certainly begin by consulting with a family practitioner first and then be referred to a specialist.

I have a itchy, flaky "rash" on the outside of my ankle (for years-treated for psoriasis).& now my lower leg & foot are swollen.& my leg aches.

Psoriatic arthritis: Sorry to hear. There could be many things related or unrelated to your psoriasis. One related cause could be psoriatic arthritic at those joints. However, that inflammatory arthritis is better diagnosed by your rheumatologist. If you don't have one, may be wise to have your medical history, symptoms listed, and get a blood test with diagnostic imaging. Good luck.

Varicose vein/c doc: Although this may just be from varicose veins, since they are painful, you need to see your doctor to make sure that you do not have a blood clot in the leg veins which may lead to life-threatening consequence if not treated. That swollen and itchy hands are likely from contact allergy (something you use on your hands) which may require a dermatology consultation.

Tonighti suddenly got a swollen spot on the bottom of my foot just below the ball of my foot. It was kinda itchy at first but hurts. Its soft & redish?

Possible infection: There could be a foreign body in your foot with associated early infection. I would recommend that you have it examined by a physician, in case antibiotics are warranted.

Secondary infection?: You may have developed "cellulitis, " a secondary bacterial skin infection due to introducing germs to the site from the bite itself, or from scratching the hive (which should have resolved). Take a pen and draw an outline around the whole red area & monitor the swelling. Should be shrinking. Worth an ASAP visit to the doc who may prescribe an antibiotic pill and diphenhydramine or Atarax (hydroxyzine) for itch.
