Probably benign: Enlarged nodes in a 14 year old are probably not serious, but if they are getting larger, they should be investigated. Measure them carefully and repeat in two or three weeks. If they've not changed in six months, they are probably nothing. Read more

I have severe neck pain and the back of my head is also in pain more on the right side than the left. Swollen glands constant feeling of pressure?

Muscle spasm: Sounds like your neck muscles that extend up into your scalp are irritated. This may have been triggered when the lymph nodes rapidly enlarged. Why is another question - they respond to perceived threats to your body like infection. Moist heat, mild stretching and some ibuprofen might help. Massages good too. If continues or worsens see your MD.

Got the flu shot 4 weeks ago became sick few days ago w/sore &swollen glands, bil ear pain, congestion in back of throat achey is this flu or cold?

Several things: Your flu shot was early enough to protect you from those 3 strains but there has been other strains this year that have infected those who got the shot. There are a bunch of other viruses; adenovirus, parainfluenza virus & others that give symptoms like you describe. Rest, good hydration & diet should help you heal. Read more

I have a very sore throat, swollen glands, sneezing a lot, and my neck and back are aching. However, I do not have a fever or runny nose?

Dr. Can check it out: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Some throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can help with symptoms. Read more

I have 2 swollen glands on neck under chin for several months & feel very tired, Should I see a Dr for this?

Yes: Are the "glands" underneath the jaw further back, or right at the chin? Most likely lymph nodes, but there are other causes. A viral infection is the most likely, but I would have a doctor check it out, as there are some more serious problems which could cause this. Read more
