A few days: Hello. It sounds like your son is receiving treatment for a throat Strep infection. The fever should either be much lower or resolved in 3 day. His throat pain should be improved by that time as well, although he may still have some mild discomfort. If the fever or pain persists longer than 5 days, he should be re-evaluated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Swollen glands and red throat the and the amoxicillin didn't help so the doctor just gave me a stonger one but no test was done he just said infection?
Infection: Physicians often recur to so called empirical treatment which is based on presumption that the presentation made by the patient is consistent with this or that. In your case your physician on a more probable than not basis thought that your case represents infection (bacterial) and that's what led him to give you 2 abx. The case, though, may be that it's not bacterial infection! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Is what normal?: The symptoms of neck pain, swollen glands, fluid behind the ear drum and cold sore all strongly suggest that you have a viral upper respiratory infection. The treatment with amoxacillin therefore might not be indicated. Depends: Sounds as if the dentist was trying to control infection prior to root canal or extraction treatment. Pain killers may cover over resolution of your infection problem. See an endodontist (root canal specialist) or an oral surgeon asap. Until you do, keep taking the antibiotic. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
