Could be...: Its possible that this is pharyngitis related to an std or other atypical bacterium, but there are other possibilities. You don't mention if the 2 rounds of antibiotics were prescribed by your pcp after an exam, or if they were lying around in your medicine cabinet from a previous event. I have a cold for the last week. A few days ago, I went to the doctor & was given Augmentin. Took 3 doses so far (a day & a half), but have very painful swollen glands in throat/neck. When will the antibiotic kick in & the swollen glands feel better?
