Not likely: A salivary gland infection is not very common and and it is also not very contagious. You may have blocked salivary gland which will make it swollen and painful. Good idea.: It may be nothing but a blocked salivary gland. Stop any drying medications you may be taking like decongestants (sudafed, afrin, (oxymetazoline) etc). Drink more fluids (without caffeine or calories), suck on lemon drops to make more saliva and keep your appointment. ...Read more
