Swollen Gland Reaction To Bug Bite
I was seen in ER for allergic reaction to vagina. It still itches. I also have a swollen gland that protrudes out of vagina. Kinda hurts. What to do?
Semen allergy?: I presume you meant having vaginal swelling and itching soon after heterosexual intercourse. If so, this is likely from semen allergy or latex allergy (condom). You may need to take antihistamine up to 4 x daily and perhaps even a short course of cortisone if the problem is severe enough. If allergy to latex use lamb skin condom for partner without HIV risk. If allergy to semen, see allergist. ...Read more
I have a swollen gland on the right side. Can this be an allergic reaction to food or medication? Could it be a cold? Throat nose and sneezing a lot
Swollen glands: Yes, a swollen gland could be all of the things you asked about, such as an allergy, cold, etc. It is more likely to be a viral process or allergy to pollens than food allergy, especially since you are having throat symptoms and sneezing. If you have allergies, try an over-the-counter antihistamine first as this could help with your sneezing and the scratchy throat. If no better, see your doc. ...Read more

My 6 year old has severe swollen glands for about two weeks. She was sick two weeks ago and had a few different bugs at once the glands are not going ?
Maybe: Agree it would be helpful to know where the glands are and if they are growing, tender, etc. If they are just below the jaw, your child could have mono. Sometimes, it does take several weeks for glands to go away after they have been swollen. As long as not tender, not getting bigger, not getting a lot of nodes in other places then can just watch. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Postviral syndrome: It sounds like you have had a viral infection that caused your lymph nodes and tonsils to enlarge and become tender. Other etiologies include malignancies, rheumatoid or lupus type diseases; sarcoidosis or crohn's disease. Even exposure to some meds or drugs may cause it. Rx: water-10 cups/d, eat only healthful foods, e.g. Fresh veges, fruits, whole grains, raw nuts & seeds. See md if not ok. ...Read more

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells/digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph everywhere for bad stuff like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
