Dry mouth, lips, throat. Knee/shoulder pain. Negative Ro/SS-A, La/SS-B and ANA and Rosa bengal test. Normal US parotid gland. Can still be Sjogren?
Yes: Stop the phenylbutazone as this can cause an aplastic anemia. Make sure your thyroid function tests are normal as well. That said, you can treat the dry eyes with meds suck as Salagen or Evoxac (cevimeline) and see if they help. Dry mouth alone makes Sjogrens unlikely but still possible, even with negative blood tests. In this situation, a lip biopsy can be helpful. ...Read more
