R/O biceps: If u were lifting something rather heavy and felt pull or 'pop' and pain and bruising is felt in lower arm or front of elbow( antecubital fossa) then a biceps strain or rupture should be ruled out.@ age 54 this can happen and generally needs to be re-attached or u will lose elbow flexion strength and much supinating( palming up) power. That's the pits...: Make sure it's the muscle. Contract the chest muscle while feeling the armpit and see if it is really a muscle. Do this pushing against a wall. Then push down on a table with your elbow and feel for a muscle. Then you can compare muscle to fat. If you're a righty and do a lot of heavy work then it could just be the muscle, but if it feels like anything else, especially if lumpy, see your doctor. ...Read more

It can take time ---: For the swelling to resolve. Are you doing any therapy? Is the swelling decreasing or not? If its increasing then you should go an er asap. Ask your orthopedist about it. Tennis elbow?: Might be inflammation at the origin site of the extensor tendons on the lateral epicondyle of the elbow. Ultrasound and xray would be normal; an MRI would likely show some edema/swelling there in the form of increased t2 signal, but this expensive test may not be necessary. You may just need some rest, ice, and possibly anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen. See doctor though if it continues. ...Read more
