Don't worry: If your child has a bite and is really bothered by it/itching it- or it looks infected - see a doctor. If you have an animal that could have fleas - get the animal treated. Do not be embarassed. Doctors see everything. We do not judge. We see lice and scabies and many things. We want to help.

Flea bites how to stop them hurting?

Flea bites how to stop them hurting?

Flea bites: First wash the bite with cool water & mild soap (hot water intensifies the itch); pat dry; don't scratch; apply tiny dab of Hydrocortisone cream or some tea tree oil or witch hazel or aloe vera gel or neem oil to calm the itching. For more persistent itching, use otc antihistamine like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or zyrtec. Of course, controlling the source of the fleas is critical, too.

What sort of disorder is having flea bites?

What sort of disorder is having flea bites?

Common problem: Unfortunately the common flea may look to humans as a meal, attaching to loose garments and extracting a bit of blood here & there over time. They will eventually leave the human as their preferred sources have a different hemaglobin molocule that they find more nurishing. The papulovesicles left behind will usually heal without rx but may promote itching & excoriation & become secondarily inflamed.

How come I have flea bites, but nobody else in the family has it?

Depends: I agree with dr westfried. Also, everyone responds differently to bites. It is possible that other family members were exposed but their reaction is not as severe as yours and they may not have any symptoms.

How long after a flea bites does the spot go away?

How long after a flea bites does the spot go away?

Depends on early Rx: Treating flea bites promptly with cool compresses, 1 % hydrocortisone/calmine and perhaps an oral antihistamine (claritin/zyrtec) and tending to the scar after the lesions heal will minimize their appearance. If they are severe, exfoliation, moisturizing, sun block and over the counter anti scar treatment (mederma/neosporin scar solution) are starters for fading the scars.
