If you do this 20-50 times per session (hot towel in hot water over your stye (avoid pushing on eye); re-heating when towel gets cold (like hot towel push ups), it will open the mg. ...Read more

It looks like my husband has a small raised bump on his eyelid, but it doesn't feel raised or swollen when he touches it. What could it be?

Likely a chalazion: Unlike styes (hordeola), chalazia are usually not on the border of the eyelid, but farther up on the lid. They sometimes will drain (usually under the lid) after hot compresses, but if they don't drain sometimes surgery is necessary to remove them if they are large enough. I'd recommend that your husband see an eye doctor (an md eye surgeon, not an od optometrist) for an opinion. ...Read more

Need photo: At the onset of a stye/hordeolum, a localized are of the eyelid next to the eyelashes is red and swollen before forming a pustule, and occ that is visible only by lifting the eyelid. Use warm compresses. If you are referring to the corner or outer canthus where the eyelashes join, then this may be related to anything that causes eye irritation and excessive tearing, such as allergy or a bad cold ...Read more

I have a bump on the top corner of my outer eyelid, it was swollen but it's has gone down. What is it?

Probably a sty: You probably had a blocked oil gland of the eyelid, either of the eyelash (gland of zeis) or of the inner eyelid gland (gland of meibom). Most stys will resolve themselves with warm compresses and eyelid massage, others may require an incision to drain. ...Read more

You should think about what touched your face or what you have eaten. Being in direct sunlight can cause a reaction like you have. If you do not have Glaucoma, you could consider taking a Benadryl (diphenhydramine) caplet and Zantac to help alliviate your problem. See MD as soon as possible. ...Read more

I have swollen left eyelid and very painful. No bumps. Also left lymph node under chin is very tender and swollen? What could this be?

Could be a sty : It may be an early sty. It should be one eyelid not both that is swollen. If one the use of warm compresses four times a day for 5-10 minutes for a couple of days should help. If both lids are swollen it may be preseptal infection and you should see a doctor as you may need antibiotics. If the swelling doesn't resolve in a 2 days or you are running a fever see a doctor. ...Read more
